36ft OFFSET SIDE Open Hopper? What roads (if any) ran them? 34' I can handle. 40' no problem. 36'??? That seems a bizarre length compared to what was normally run in the 40's and 50's.

Back in 1989 or 90, I wound up custom ordering from Walthers (Terminal Hobby) 6 undecorated hoppers. They are offset side with peaked ends. The hoppers were not normally run "undec'd" but were Walthers was lettering them for some road. I cannot for the life of me recall what road. Anyway, I ordered these (quite witlessly) thinking I would find some C&O use for them. Not so. To the best of my knowledge and research, the C&O never even whiffed at using a 36' offset side hopper that I can find.

I was cleaning out one of the shelves at my workbench before dinner tonight and ran across this box of 6 of these things. They are that old Walthers brown plastic in the old white box w/ the blue stripes they used to put there kits in. I would hate to trash them. They are just begging for some paint and decals.

Paint I got. "Correct" decals? I have no clue.

Oh, I almost forgot. They also have "peaked ends".

Who knows why one makes these goony purchases of long ago? [/slapping forehead]
