Just got home, grabbed the newspaper, (King County Journal), and there on page A3 is a big picture of NP 2152 that has been in Auburn, Wa. for 40 years!! The city can't pay for the up-keep so they are looking to get rid of it to a good home. It's a 4-6-2 Pacific and in need of about $250,000 for restoration, if possible.
What are their requisites for getting it out of there? I sure hope someone will step up, and save it! The thought of a torch sends chills up my spine... Boxcab E50
The newspaper article say's there are 4 different places-Snoqualmie museum, the guy's in Toppenish,a Minnesota museum, and of course, Mr. Doyle McCormick! There's no time limit, but it detiorates a little more everyday since the only thing that's been done in the last 10 years or so was a cover and chain-link fence. The headlight's missing and the cab is pretty bad and rotted out and the controls all bent and messed up. The guy's at Snoqualmie said they would move it to the shop up there and donate 10,000 dollars to the city for the parks dept. to build a display board honoring it. They could cosmetically restore it and put it behind rotory #10!
Well, I guess Snoqualmie is better than no engine at all. But wouldn't it be fine to see her operate again? Please post any news you hear! Boxcab E50
That would be a real fine one to see running around here! I go down and see her every once in awhile. I find myself talking to her sometimes.
Can you tell me the article date? Or it's title? Their search engine isn't turning up anything. Boxcab E50
Rats! Can't find it. Have entered any search key words I could think of to find it. Nothing returns. Boxcab E50
I just punch in 11,29,2005, starting and ending in the field boxes, nothing else and then start going thru the story's.
