I am considering rebuilding a wrecked Bachman 2-10-4. I would like to model it after a C&O T1 if possible. It currently has Santa Fe markings. I may consider following a Pennsy prototype as an option. Can anyone recommend a good source of info for either Pennsy or C&O locomotive details? I am trying to stay East Coast as much as possible. Thanks for your help.

    Steve,
Go to And go to the Pennsy link of pictures and view them to find the 2-10-4 your looking for. I'm sure they will have a bunch of pictures to choose from... :D Have fun! Its a large site!

I think the Central Vermont had 2-10-4's also.

I'd love to find an old Bachmann 2-10-4 and rebuild/design it to spectrun spects and all and do up a C&O. But they are rare to find anymore and when done expensive! And not awhole lot of interesting being its a plain jane Bachmann.... Maybe someday I'll find one reasonable for its running value! :D Till then... I'll stick with my articulateds and Mallet type steamers! :D

The 2-10-4 is very hard to come by! I've only seen two on E-bay the last year and a half. I was severly outbid on the first one. The second was a parts engine along with 4 others. (2 Chessie GS-4's, and 2 Northerns) They're all pretty bad, the best one is the 2-10-4. I love rebuilding these engines almost more than running them. I plan to restore 1 GS-4 to operate, the other for display. The two Northerns will probably go together for an operational model. And of course the 2-10-4. Included were parts and the tenders of course. Oh the possiblities! :)

YOU Won that auction? I thought that was pretty cool, but I couldn't scrounge up the money (just bought dad an Accucraft Ruby for christmas, and boy will he be surprised!).

Believe it or not, I just bought a Bachmann Train Set off Ebay, the Empire Builder with the 2-10-4. Now that I know how hard it is to get one, I m very happy indeed. It is currently my largest Locomtive, but not the heaviest or the most powerful.

I think I need to add eight to the tender, the centipede does not track well in reverse.

Anyone know where I can get a Bachmann Overland 4-8-4? I want to model a Western Maryland J-1 with it and its the closest to any 4-8-4's i've seen to model the WM J-1's... :D Even a parts loco can give me a start... :D
