Well the operation was a success , sort of . The TSU750 fits nicely and was fairly easy to install . Have chuff more or less adjusted , and am fairly happy there . I still need to make a sound baffle for the speaker as the sound is a little week . Now my 1 main problem , the whistle , or better the lack of a whistle . What I am getting is more of a hiss than a whistle . Tried all of the CV 115 settings , and I did find something that sounds like a horn , But the whistles just hiss . Is it because I don't have the speaker baffled , or are there other CV's that effect the whistle sound ? The rest of the decoder seems to work OK so I can't imagine that just 1 part of the decoder is defective . I'm guessing user error , but I could really use some help to tell me where to start looking .
Well was running it some more messing with the CV's . The sound just stopped working . Not muted , motor control works fine, speaker looks OK . Before it,stopped working I had to do a reset , the sound got way out of sink on its own . Went from 4 chuff / rev to less than 1 in forward , and from 4 to 8 in reverse ! Did another reset just now and still no sound . Is the speaker blown or is the decoder wonky ? This is getting frustrating ! I did download the Steam users Sound Guide and an NMRA clinic from Mick Moingnard that are very helpful .
I have had similar problems with my GS-4 + TS-750. Every once in a while, for no discernible reason, the sounds are out of synch, and the motor control is totally messed up. Thankfully, I have the full settings file backed up on DecoderPro. I end up resetting the decoder on the programming track, then do a full CV reprogram and everything is fine again. Happens maybe every 6-9 months.
The TSU 750 is known for overheating. It is possible that is what you are experiencing. When it overheats, the sound shuts down. It may also be a bad speaker or bad connection to the speaker. You would be much better off, speaker-wise, to use something like this, instead of the 1/2" oval http://store.sbs4dcc.com/SBS4DCCSugarCubeSpeaker11x15mm8ohm1wattw/SoundChamber.aspx or if the 11mm x 15mm is too big for your installation space, this: http://store.sbs4dcc.com/SBS4DCCSugarCubeSpeaker8x12mm8ohm.7wattw/SoundChamber.aspx Either will give you sound light-years better than what you have now.
