Received an e-mail about this last night, from the fellow who seems to be spearheading the effort:

    > > Subject: 1939 MILW Ribside Caboose in HO

Perhaps of interest to the HO folks amongst us?

    Ken,
I am amongst us! Sounds like a great kit I e-mailed them about the price, I hope it's not to overboard!

    Andy-

Hope perhaps it's in the same vicinity for price as the Rib Side box cars. Guess you'll have to let us know what they say? No matter what, gotta be far less than brass!

    HO Scale folks,

We, at Cabooses Northwest, would like to inform the group that we have shipped over 60 rib side caboose kits in the last 7 weeks.
Also, in the latest issue of The Milwaukee Railroader, a 5 page article authored by Keith Fink details his assembly of the kit.
Just thought you would want to know.

Welcome Ron & Alice! [IMG] Always good to see ribside caboose kits, (or anything Milwaukee Road [IMG] ), being produced. How's about making one in Z-scale for us Z-heads? (I'm a closet MILW fan! [IMG] )

There is an article on this model in the current MRHA magazine. The close ups look good, though I'll go RIVETCOUNTER at this point and say I don't like the look of the trucks. The fill around the bolster spring is thick. But...this is a wondeful model. I said a few years ago in this forum if someone would make a plastic/resin model of this caboose between $35-50, they would sell. Hopefully, I'll be proven right

Thank you Ron and Alice. You really have done we MHRA members and all Milwaukee fans a terrific service. Even if some of these only end up on desktops or shelves, their unique look will generate questions and hopefully new afficiannados of "America's Resourceful Railroad". I myself became one because of an AHM Alco C-425 I received Christmas '82. (Yes..I know GBW had 'em, not the MILW..so what...it ran great and that black and Orange paint job really stood out). It was a gift from my friends Dad, who thought I should have a, "real" quality engine to replace the TYCO junk I was afflicted with. Goes to show you never know what effect a simple action on your part can have on future generations. I can't afford one right now, but I have budgeted it in for June.

Boxcab-buy one and wash it some really hot water.

    JNJ N scale Milwaukee caboose

    Boxcab,
I am just starting to put together the JNJ trains milwaukee bay window caboose kit they have out. So far it seems as though it will go together nicely. However there is one problem. I can not find an exact match for the trucks a micro-trains coil eliptic is the closest I can find on the market. I guess that will have to do, but it might not look protypical next to my Overland Little Joe that I have had ordered for almost 2 years now and still havent recieved yet.

    cwwrman-

Welcome To TrainBoard! We have a chatty little Milw Forum going here. Always great to have someone join in on the fun!

I had been able to acquire a couple of OMI brass cabeese. So it's been a while since my last looking at that JnJ release. Weren't those originally going to come with truck sideframes? Or did he drop that idea?

I had in that past thought about MT passenger car trucks. They are vaguely similar in appearance. Am curious- What part number are those you looked at?

Not a rivot counter either...But in N scale, the best bet for a 'Bash' Mil ribside would be a Lima Baywindow. The advantage is the bay can be removed so scribbing the sides for the ribs is easier. windows must be plugged and relocated. I've made a few of them. The MT BX trucks are close for the high speed trucks.

    Marty-

What part number for those trucks? Their new numbering system confuses me. The old system was fine for over 30 years.....

I dont know what the new number is but I told you the wrong info Boxcab. I thought it was the coil eliptic I was looking at but Marty is right. The BX express is the one I was thinking of I just looked it up on www.micro-trains.com. If there was a plan to include the sideframes with the kit mine did not come with them.

Are those the same trucks MT used on their REA cars, etc? If so, I should have one of those cars around here somewhere. Can dig it out, and take a look.
