Here's a 1935 safety film made by Chevy that's based on operating steam engines. OK, so it's a little Hokey by today's standards, but it has some great steam footage. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWofCp8LWo0"]YouTube - Safe Roads 1935 - A Chevrolet Safety Film (Railroad Themed)[/ame]
Hank, that's not hokey, it really still applies today, except no one is listening. That's a classic. Showing the takeover of automobiles from trains for the preferred system of travel. Very nice old steam scenes. Thanks for posting it. :tb-biggrin:
Jim, I am concerned that this might not be the correct forum for the best exposure to folks who might enjoy seeing steamers from 75 years ago. Is there a better forum, and can this thread be moved there...? Thanks, Hank
I'm not a moderator of this forum, so can't move it, but I think this is the right place for it. Let's see how many visits show up. :tb-confused:
Thanks for posting that. I know I have seen it somewhere before. The kid ragging on his dad about the wreck he caused is very familiar. I am not old enough to have seen it when it was first released. Was probably at one of our NRHS meetings when we watch old films on video for the program. I really like the roof shots on the Santa Fe Chief. Shows all the hatches and duct work for the air conditioning. Seems to be in a good location where you posted it.
