Would 18 gauge wire be okay for feeder wires from stationary decoders to to the track bus line?

    Alan:

You can use 18 gauge wire to connect the stationary decoders to the track bus line.

I, myself prefer to use 20 gauge wire as it's more flexible.

I use 22 gauge without problems, as long as the feeder are short.

I was going through some stuff i keep under the lay out and found three rolls of 20 gauge wire in black, green and red. All i need now is some 14 gauge which i can get from home depot but was wondering what type would be best They come in stranded and solid.

    Alan:

I use 14 gauge solid core copper wire for the bus lines. You can get that at Home Depot.

I use 20 gauge copper wire for the feeders. I've used both solid and stranded copper wire. For some reason I prefer the solid copper wire for the feeders after using both kinds.

    It's an individual preference however.

I concur with Bob, I feel solid is much better for feeders.
