I saw this track plan in MR man-years ago. It was a PRR. layout that was built then used as a sweepstakes prize. I had to work from memory, that's not so good anymore. Ok so it wasn't all that good in the beginning. I was wondering what your thoughts where on the track plan and if someone had any ways to improve it.

Where do the main's go? Is it simply hidden all the way around, or no connect? There looks like a lot of hidden track, so would be concerned about access to it.

Near the portholes there is a letter that shows where it goes in and where it comes out. IE: A goes to A and B to B. The layout is open framed, so most tracks that are hidden can be accessed from underneath. There will be a staging yard underneath connected to portholes A.

I don't see a scale mentioned. Is it HO?

Yes it is HO scale. The grid is 12 inch.

Just a thought, looking at your yard. If you ever run a train into those tracks, there is no way I am able to see for the power to cut off and escape.

Going to need an engine escape in the yard. Yes that would be a pain.

It seems that when the train disappears into the hidden portion of the mainline loop beneath the yard, engine terminal and mine, it'll be out of sight for quite some time. I'd get impatient waiting for it to reappear. Good road for long N&W coal trains for sure.

Most turntables have inbound & outbound tracks off the same lead. For a road train to yard the train their needs to be a runaround track before the yard. Looks like there's enough room to make the yard double ended by moving some tracks on top end. There's plenty of plans out there to find a better yard. Don't see a very good reason to have that much hidden trackage especially if it can't be reached EASILY!
