Thank you for all the kind comments about my tiny project. Since December 2nd the layout has been part of my Christmas decorations on my desk at work. Many have been amazed at the small size and quiet operation. QA complained that there were no train sounds, but that's what QA does. I have blown through several 9 volt batteries, and it has been run for several hours each day. It has about 30 hours of operation on it at this point, has only needed cleaning once, and hardly ever stalls. I'm actually quite amazed myself at how trouble free this thing is working. I can't take all the credit for this. The AZL locomotive has outstanding performance. I'm actually kind of worried how long the motor will hold out for. It's starting to turn into an endurance test for the engine. For now, this layout is done. I'm moving onto other projects. I still have another Z layout to finish, and I'm starting an HOn30 one. These build logs help keep me motivated and focused, so thank you to everyone who gave encouragement, advice, or asked for updates. A special thanks to Doug, who revived the thread after a year of inactivity, and reminded me to finish this. The Layout at Work: I have a fair amount of other decor off to the left. Maybe too much. That is really awesome. If I thought I could come up with something like that I would sure give it a go. I'm sure that non-model railroad people that see that are really surprised at what is possible. Charlie
Definitely a great 'layout'. By the way, a safer way to apply heat to the water would be a hair drier. It works great, and you won't burn your bridges behind you...
