Just saw an ad for the new P2K 0-6-0 in HO. It claims the model will pull 40 cars or more. Question: could a 1:1 size 0-6-0 pull that many cars loaded or empty? I remember reading in a book about the Norfolk and Portsmouth Belt Line that their 0-6-0s could barely move themselves, much less effectively pull a long string of freight cars! Just curious. My earliest memories are of second generation EMDs! Thanks "Look Ahead, Look South"
Our 12"=1' 1958 Ford Y block V8 Trackmobile pulls cold 400+ton 4-8-4s around, so I'd guess a full sized 0-6-0 shouldn't have to much of a problem pulling 40 cars on the straight and flat. Smokebox
Yo, Smokebox, glad to have you here on Trainboard, man. Have you heard from Mike Morgan, who's bringing his son from somewhere in the midwest just to see 4449 run from Portland to Hillsboro? I have been sending him maps and stuff as he has never been to Portland before. Hope to get up there myself.
