Received one of these as a Xmas present - out of the box it is easy to setup and get started. I am having a problem where the track power is not routing through to the connecting tracks from one end of the bridge. Once I dug out my multi-meter, I could see that there is not a reliable connection from the rail opposite the "house". There is a tiny brass tab that should be making the connection (the other 3 rails ends are fine) but it seems this is not happening with this one due to play in the bridge or lack of pressure in the contact. I am very reluctant to start bending things as the turntable seems fairly fragile. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it normal? I am unsure about contacting Kato - there is nothing in the instructions other than a website address. Any ideas? Thanks!
Kato USA is a source of help. These is also a Yahoo Group focused on Kato Unitrack. I have the turntable, but am not certain I understand what you experienced. If the turntable track is not receiving power for a locomotive from the mainline, the power must come from the silver knob setting of the controller.
Thanks Roger. The problem is I cannot run a locomotive through the turntable. The end of the bridge with the house is not making a power connection with the connecting tracks and the locomotive stalls once the wheels leave the bridge. Does your turntable have a similar issues? I am thinking I may need Kato to either exchange or repair the turntable (it only came out of the box yesterday) - do you know if they have a warranty?
You may want to watch Mike Fifer's review of the turntable on You Tube to see how he has it hooked up. A fairly good review and the set up and operation of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH0wnLdtFHA
My LHS contacted Kato and they agreed to an exchange. The new turntable works flawlessly. It is great that there is still solid customer service to be had!
