I'm staying. Of course, I'll be on the Atlas forum too. I like the faster pace and raging controversies [IMG] there, but nice and peaceful [IMG] here is nice too. ;)

Shameless pandering for more active registrants.
    Competition is good.

Well, I've just made up my mind - I'll be going back to the Atlas forum exclusively once it is back on line.

At least the Atlas moderators treat the members like adults and handle problems privately. A topic like that started this afternoon whould have been locked with an explanation and a private reminder to those who may have strayed and would not have just disappeared.

Well the topic "A Hotdog in every pot..." is gone to THE CRUMMY... wherever that might actually be... I don't know. The topic strayed too far from model railroading and would have been locked in most boards... which I sort of expected. But it was fun while it lasted.

FOr the record, go to the HO vs. N thread- you'll see where Charlie posted the reason it was moved.

If you have any questions about how Trainboard is handled, please feel free to PM one of the administrators- he'll be happy to answer your questions. ;)

Okay, who's going to be the first to embarass everyone by sprinting over to the Atlas folks at Chantilly and asking?

If you have a problem with the way we are doing things here Gregg why wait until Atlas come back before you leave???? You have done nothing but be negative ever since you came back here.

I agree with the sentiments that if you find this (or other) forums so hard to put up with, then why wait for Atlas to come back??

Oh well...some people like controversy I guess. I like it here. I fade in and out of this and the Atlas forum every few months as the bug gets me (or to post my semi-annual GP15 model request ;) . I don't care much for flame wars; after all, it's a fun hobby for me. Besides, the administrator likes the MoPac! How cool is that?

(Colonel, do you have a few canaries or are you a Jenks' Blue purist?)

I'm sure you'll help champion the cause for some yard and local power:

I model the mid to late 1980's leading up to the merger. My new DRGW tunnel motors will look good with my SD40-2s on the St. Louis-Pueblo run. Now, if I just had the layout assembled...

In the months before it was shut down the Atlas forum had degenerated to 10% content and 90% stupidity. Self-serving and frivolous threads, with no purpose but to generate traffic (and clog the system), had become the rule. I for one will not go back (since we are already getting signals that the old nonsense will resume). I think the moderators here do a far better job.

Glad you're happier here. Some of us aren't as discerning, I suppose. I'm looking forward to it's return.

One person's nonsense is another person's social, intellectual stimulation. Sorta like religion and/or mate selection.

I will still browse the topics on the Atlas forum for things that interest me. The Atlas forum definitely has a faster pace (and more emotions), but things may continue to pick up here at Trainboard should a lot of us that jumped over during the annual Atlas snooze stick around (myself included).

Colonel, Here's a good shot of MP & Rio Grande pool power:

...not that you need a reason to lash up your MP & DRGW locos! ;)

    Guys-

Please cool it. This is a board (and so is the Atlas board) FOR A LEISURE TIME ACTIVITY.

Step back, thing a bit, refocus and see if the postings AND the responses from other board members and moderators are accomplishing the furtherance of the goal of making leisure time activities more informative and enjoyable.

If Atlas did not shut down it's board, for whatever reason for over a month, I would not even have stumbled into here. Since Atlas chose to do so, which was a conscious decision, it will most likely suffer a drop off in postings.

Please keep on topic. It is more enjoyable for all readers not to have to wade through diatribes on one topic or another and to see some possibly inappropriate input from moderators. My plea is for everyone to keep on topic at all times.

The Atlas forumites are getting restless....time to break out the water hoses, tear gas and riot gear. [IMG]

But more importantly....hmmm that Mopac blue looks awfully familiar....

...and openly accusing the moderators of "possible inappropriate input" is not adding to things that are not enjoyable for readers to have to wade through? [IMG]

Well first off, I for one must say that I do enjoy the influx of folks from the other forums. Gives us here much more to talk about and many more ideas and such.

I come here to enjoy my hobby with others that like to do so as well. Flame wars and off topics such as politics aren't welcome here in our cozy little corner. (It is a shame that Calzephers "hot dog" topic turned into such crap as it could have been a really interesting topic had it stayed on the tracks.) This has always been such a welcoming and informative forum and a great place to help and share with others. If anyone wants to have these flame wars and post off topic there are other places for that. If that makes you mad and you wish not to particapate here, then feel free to take it elsewhere as I for one will not miss it!

As for Calzephers other "N vs Ho" post, that is a perfect example that we can have great controversey here and keep it on track and enjoy it. Take a lesson all you flamers and read that topic one more time!!!

well, the one thing i miss about the other board....

is.....uh. would you believe. is trying to translate bob roselli.

since he has not shown up anywhere else i am beginning to believe he is paul graf in disguise.

three pages of topics a day keeps it interesting.
