With Buffett buying BNSF...will we need to redecal our locomotives...or just use a magic marker? ! :tb-biggrin: .
Nope, still BNSF. It just means "Buffett's New Stock Float" The scary part is that with that kind of power, the next major rail merger or acquisition could happen rather rapidly and quietly until it is required to be disclosed.
HEY!!! Maybe we can all email him...get him interested in N Scale...he could buy out or start an N scale manufactuere...and he could just leave it B N S F ... "Buffett's N Scale Factory" :tb-wink::tb-cool: .
Been there Loved it. Ok the real reason he bought the railroad. “This is all happening because my father didn’t buy me a train set as a kid,” Mr. Buffett said. lex
Wow, that’s amazing. I can’t even imagine owning my own railroad. Who needs models when you can have the real thing?
Well, the BNSF official name of the combined BNSF-CN would have been "North American Railroad Company". Probably white engines with black generic lettering...
Imagine having enough money to buy BNSF! There was a short (very short) mention of this on the midday news here, but they just said he had bought a railroad, no mention of which one. If only he had fond childhood memories of the Santa Fe, warbonnets anyone?:tb-wink:
He doesn't own it directly. Berkshire Hathaway, his investment corporation, deals with numbers that would blow a pocket calculator. Back in 1963 when he started investing the Berkshire Hathaway Class A stock price was around $15. As of a few minutes ago BRK.A stock price was $100,450, valuing the company at $156.1 billion. Cheers David
Aint that like saying... "My wife bought a lamborghini, therefore I dont own it directly." LOL. :tb-biggrin: .
I love that sentence in the resume !!!!!!!!!! Filed first tax return at age 13, claiming $35 deduction for bicycle.
Well, yes/no. While he holds a controlling interest in BH, it is very different legally than his owning the BNSF (once deal completes). Of course, that controlling interest means he gets to do what he wants Disclaimer: I do own a few shares of BRKZB (class B stock)
