    Hi Kim,

This are about 2,5mm I think to much small to pass a turnout.
The smallest usable where from Freudenreich with 3,5mm.
I already read the picture descriptions from Robert on Zcentral
and always dont know what is Delrin ?
Anyway for some power pickup there is no way around brass.
Could be a challenge to make this on the lathe.

It looks much smaller than the engine in the background. Is that an N engine, or is the RhB engine Zm?

The Locomotive in the background is a Marklin SBB Ae3/6 (Ref. 8851).

    Armand,
Delrin is a form of plastic which is very durable, it is used in injection molding. Example would be the MTL wheels and trucks, they are made of Delrin. It also comes in sheets and rods, they laser very well, they vaporize and dont warp. I have also used them as a master for casting in brass.

    kim,
if you do manage to make them, can i buy a set or two. i want to make some speeders and also a high rail.

now what i've discovered that might work is small brass grommets. i have one about 1/32" I.D. i've tried looking at small parts, but can't seem to find them that small. i have one (don't know where it come from) and figure the electronics stores should know where to get them. So far, though, i'm coming up empty. there is enough flange on the grommet that i think it could work on track too -- if the gaps in the rails don't sink the "wheel" of the grommet. at least it would look right hanging under the bumper of a Hi-rail.

    Dave,
NO problem, I'll make some for you too when I make them.

    Understand Kim,

Could it be some sort of Nylon?
In this case it will not glue very good, I think.
Thanks, I will try to read more about this.
Märklin should use the same, anyway you guys are
technological better informed that Z freaks
    here over.

Armand, it is an Acetal (POM - acetal polyoxymethelene) by DuPont and it doesn't glue almost at all...
there are some specialist and expensive glues that supposedly work, but I wouldn't bother

And your DCC stuff will run on DC.

For the DCC DC problematic, there is another alternate, decoder on rail.
Possible to use one big HO decoder and hanging the motor wires directly
to the rail, and like this power the DC engines on the rail.
By this you let profit your DC equipement from the DCC impulse power.
If you now run DCC on the track, you overswitch this big decoder with
    a double 2 way or a relay.
And you are able to run DCC or DC and just need one digital central unit
for this, no DC transformer anymore.
