If you are going to custom paint a One-of-a-Kind locomotive, may as well go for the wow and make something eye catching and out of the ordinary. This one ranks at the bottom of the "Wow" scale in my opinion.

    I like it!

So what's with the guy on his knees? Worshiping the C&NW logo or did he find a scuff mark? ;)

My 2 cents worth goes with the group that thinks it is boring and unoriginal. I was hoping for the falcon and the falcon service logo somewhere. At least UPis doing something creative and different even if we question their motivation as modelers.

I like to think that the CNW scheme was so Awesome to begin with that they couldn't improve it.

I must have missed it, but how have those 2 dash 9s missed the painters booth all these years?

I think I prefer the 'new' C&NW scheme above the original...

The North Western never seemed to be a flashy road to start with

The CNW paint scheme as it used to be wasn't flashy, nor was it meant to be. However, as far as using the original colors, they scored a direct hit (well, maybe except for the silver stripes....but they look OK after a while). On the garish scale, Rio Grande ranks up there, followed closely by the MP scheme. Maybe I'm not into flashy paint schemes, but the MKT and CNW repaints do it for me. They're also closer to the original look of the respective railroads.

And besides, I've seen Penn Central and N&W black- to me, that's blah.
