So I did a shrink to 70% of the first arches, which I traced and scaled with the structure drawings, but in the end it was both too bright and too big. So this is rev 2. I found that coarse sanding the acrylic causes the light to spread out evenly and diffuse all over. And i went from 5 LED's to 3, placed in the center: So I wired in the LED's then filled the cavity with UV Glue. I really like this stuff, it flows in like Envirotex Lite epoxy, but no mixing, and it cures with a UV flashlight in a couple seconds, sealing everything in. And it conducts light as well as acrylic itself: Here is a photo of the rev3 arches running on 9 volts wired for 12V, so it's dimmer, but it is more evenly illuminated. You can barely see the 3 LED' glowing behind the H, U, and S in hamburgers, and the arches are just barely illuminated in room light. I'll try and get a night shot tonight.
You’ve outdone yourself again Robert. From the photo, it looks perfect! Are you plan on building a structure to go along with it?
Oh yes, just like the old McDonalds, the building is walk up only, has sloped front windows, 2 golden arches, and has red "Pinstripe" tiles. They also all had a long pole with a US flag back in the day. It should be a good addition to my fast food series:
Can’t wait to see what you come up with! The angle of the roof, arches, and building itself will be a challenge to make. You are the only one I know who can make it happen! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
Finished with interior of my Shapeways Shell Station. Lighting is done on the inside as well. Lighting is also done in the KFC, with partial interior done. Waiting for my Shapeways order to finish The KFC. Will be putting on lights for the gas pumps as well!
Robert Ray did a great job on making the McDonald’s sign for my McDonald’s. It has to be fairly dark in my layout room for the sign to lit up!
View attachment 256186 Close up view of my KFC in the dark. Thanks to Robert for making a great kit and for all his help with the lighting of it. In the works of putting an interior inside. So far I have a couple of seating booths with customers.
Finally installed my lights that I purchased on Amazon. Works great on the inside of the roof for the gas pumps. These are great for limited areas that needs lights!

You should make a small run of these. I bet they'd sell like McDonald's Hamburger's. Hint. Hint. It looks amazing. Jim
