If there is snow, I can't help it! I have to try to get a train out in it! And I did!!! Setting cars out at the pipeyard!!
The PTC equipment "eyebrows" on the 1987 just looks funny... I have seen a few units around here with that too, and it just looks odd.
Yes it does! That unit has been around enough now, I don't notice it so much. But it does look goofy.
Had a tip from a friend driving crew vans that a rock train was heading east last night. It is a conveyor type and looks mighty neat, with the crew even giving us a shout out!
According to the car data, the LT WT is 63,500 and the LD LMT is 199,500 each. There is a conveyor running from end to end under the cars so that the section crew can accurately place the ballast as they choose. It is a weird looking train, but cool!!
The last post was a weird duplicate. The li'l electronic whiz-box I use was acting strange that day...... Today was interesting. Yesterday we had a 73 F spring day with lots of sunshine! Today we had Cool weather and snow!! And the BNSF had a relearning about trains, wet rail and steep hills. An eastbound coal train stalled on Beaver Hill for some reason. I made it out there in time to get it on it's second attempt, this time in 'notch 8!' Then I zipped back to town as quickly as I could to hopefully catch this long 'H' train that had been on duty a couple of hours waiting on the coal train to get over the hill. Success! Thanks go out to a friend who drives crews around and alerts me often times!!
Yes they were! And it was a beautiful sound! A couple more from yesterday's foray into a heavy spring blizzard. That long train just as it was hitting the signals. The snow was muting the sound so sweetly. And just before that H train left, this westbound empty crawled into the yard with a KCS DPU on the rear,
Or, if it is raining and night time! Last night this H train was 'tipped' to me by my crew van friend, had to try the video, and it came out 'ok.'
Had a tip from my friend driving a crew van, and was able to catch this westbound H train. There are a lot of wheel issues in the consist. One shiny CP leading the way, which is weird because it got sent to Glendive the day before just to return to Laurel with this train. No explaining why the RR does some of the weird stuff they do. But it makes for great photo ops!
