Cool, the Texas Eagle in Temple. Here it is in 1983 approaching the platform at the old Santa Fe depot at Temple.
The Temple depot from the train on March 8, 2011. Unfortunately the museum collection in front of the depot is not protected and has been heavily vandalized in the last few years.
Double Door boxcar PC 267440 at Barrington, IL about 1975. Stenciling shows a builder's date of 4/56; the stencil font looks NYC.
Another boxcar shot taken at Barrington, IL in about 1975, RI 34520. 60 FT, one of an order for 100, built 9/73 by Pullman Standard.
Nice one, Hardcoaler! Those cars would probably have been ordered to ship automotive parts, probably transmissions. Something in between the heavy axles and engines, weight-wise, but lighter than stampings of body panels.
Beautiful. BLT 15 years ago (if I read the stencil correctly), and yet unsullied by the rattle can artist community.
I think it is more like 2-80, so 41 years old. In MOW tie service now. Still very impressive to last this long unsullied.
