Like the dump truck!! Has anyone ever done one of the massive open pit mine type dump trucks?? The large Cat or Terex type?? Looking to find a couple of them, if the cost isn't too bad! Need something to go with the P&H mine shovel I've got! Something like one of these, found on Shutterstock:
My son worked IT for a gold mine in Neveda. The company held a 4th of July picnic. They brought over some of the mine equipment. Those dump trucks sure are BIGGER in real life...(and I am 6' 6" tall)...LOL
Railway Express Miniatures (i.e., a division of JL Innovative Design) Stock Number 2101 100 Ton Electra-Haul (aka "Unit Rig") Mine Dump Truck pewter kit. Or, an unpainted 3D printed model of a Cat Mining Dump Truck that can be viewed in this eBay listing.
I wanted a Saturn, but couldn't afford even the early bird price, which I expected to sell out in seconds. Anycubic now has a 4K larger format resin printer (Mono X?), but my Photon is just fine for my current needs.
I am enjoying my upgrade to an Epax x10 4K mono. Speed is blazingly fast for a 3D printer. The larger build plate allows me to do more models at $0.01 in skill and Dabble in HO. If you wanted a really large mine truck I could do something up to 8 plus inches long.
I am unsure if this was a request or a suggestion. Either way I have wanted to do it ever since somebody brought it up. Excuse the lengthy delay.
That's really nicely done Feeling like Santa Claus HO HO HO HO HO HO patiently waiting for some 1970's trucks in ho nerves in my hands make it so I can't work with N anymore.
On the topic of supports. I am working my way down to fewer supports. For those of us who actually do print you know it is sort of a process of eliminating them a few at a time. I am new at this so I am somewhere in that process. It is a comfort level thing that you just have to get used to. Alternative to too many supports is not enough causes a print failure. Aside from the wasted resin and time on the lesser failures. The bigger failures are quite annoying because of the level of clean up required in the printer. I have sort of made the task harder by offering so many things. Each having its own special needs for support. Short version I will get there. Bear with me.
Vintage tractors. My designer partner is in the middle of working on a Freightliner cabover from the 70s. This was his call not my request. Since it has been done before it's not exactly new but that is why he is doing it so he has something to follow is he learns tractors. Other than potentially doing it better. There will certainly be more versions. My request to him is a day cab for LTL operations. I would suggest that my Freight star tractor Falls comfortably into the late 70s style-wise. With a 36-inch sleeper or a flat top double bunk it would fit that era pretty nicely. I would probably just have to go back and put round headlights in it because I am not sure when the square headlights started becoming a thing but it was not the 70s. Given this is all being discussed in the N-Scale forum and I do not feel like starting a whole new thread in HO scale. Excuse my cross reference here. I believe the general interest is mixed between HO scale and N scale in 3D printed objects. Just remember for anyone who is looking at this N scale and wishing it was HO, just ask. My new printer will allow me to do things up to about 50 feet long in HO scale comfortably. That's certainly covers pretty much every tractor and a lot of trailers
What trucks are you looking for? I will be starting to do HO soon too. Most likely just the cabs to go on Promotex frames (for the time being)
On the supports comment and reply. I did not take it as anything more than an observation necessarily. My reply was more so to explain to those who do not know why my models have more support than yours. It is very frustrating because my partner designer he has the same printer as I do and we share the same files. My prints generally work. And his tend to work less reliably than mine. I basically dismiss the build platform being level because I feel that none of the prints would work at all and some always work perfectly. Furthermore the issues that he is having tend to revolve more around supports than falling off the platform. This really is more of an art than a science and particular printers like the photon can complicate things.
Today I have some stuff you've seen before just a little more refined and some new stuff. I also have this tractor and this trailer available in HO scale the new stuff is this tractor with an air Shield and a 53-foot container trailer. I believe it's called a gooseneck although it's a fairly minimal it is designed for the containers that have a notch above the fifth wheel plate. I will be working on this version of the tractor and 53 foot container trailer for HO scale as well. I just wanted to share what I already had
I have been so busy that I forgot to post this trailer which is a dump body this is also a kit for ease of painting the dump body and the chassis are two parts. Plus the usual addition of wheels and tires afterward
