Why, they call it the high bridge

What's being built down below? Is it railroad related?

A new and improved even higher and longer Kate Shelly high(er) Bridge. In case I manage to tremble this one over

This must be the most major RR bridge project in some time. Are they planning ahead? So it can carry more than two tracks?

This is only 5 miles west of the Boone yard and I doubt they would
tripple track a bridge. If anything they would probebly do a controled siding between here and Boone off the north track.

I dont think the Katy Shelly bridge was built with the heavy coal runs shes taking in mind. I heard there is a policy with the dispatchers to try real hard not to have 2 trains on it at the same time.
So a heavier double main bridge would solve that bottleneck.

Plus, dont zone out on all the info. This and the other pics are all facing west. You will notice a fairly tight curve bending south, off the west end.
Due to the curve and its relation to the bridge theres a permanant slow order for 25mph. The east end tags to tangent track for a few miles. So it is only a 40mph slow oeder for westbound trains.

So you notice in this pic the new bridge is on the north side. So when the new track goes in the curve wont be quite as sharp, whould affect any slow orders over the new bridge.

I wouldnt be connected to know. But I think that low sulpher coal and $3.00 a gallon gas has some one thinking longterm.
