This is a closer picture of the UP diamond in Tyler, Texas. The former SP to Big Sandy (Now UP) runs left and right accross the photo with the Tyler shops being off to the right of the photo. This is taken at the Tyler depot which is now the home to Tyler Transit.

      I should also mention that this is looking north along the old MP line. This line at one time went to Mineola and connected with the SP (ex T&P) to Dallas

      From this point it stretches to Swan. Texas to service Tyler Pipe. Although service my have been suspended now. There are parts of the old ROW that extend further, yet most have been erased by development. I did note that last year they were reworking some creek bridges about a mile up from here so I an not sure how much service it now sees. During the 80's it did have a train or two per day on this branch.

      That's sad. From a train or two a day, to possibly none. The bridge work may be an opposite indicator. I've seen that type of investment used to tip the books into negative territory. So when applied for, abandonment would look better. :(
