Missouri River Grain

A DM&E grain train clips along at about 40mph along the Missouri River about 5miles East of Pierre, SD. Track speeds have increased dramatically thanks to newly laid welded rail. 8/6/07

      Does DM&E cross the Missouri over its route? I'll be the span would be impressive!

      It does cross at Pierre. I didn't get a picture of the bridge for some reason. I guess because I never saw a train on it. The bridge is impressive. One section is a swing bridge but it doesn't look like it gets much use. There is another impressive bridge in Huron. Never got a shot of it either.

      Now you have me wondering. Is there any barge traffic? Otherwise, can't think of anything causing the bridge to be opened. Other than a possible private pleasure craft.
