I'm not sure about this particular gon, but there are several KSW gons and flats...mostly with white spray-can-hand-painted numbers. LOL. I'll see if I can post a pic or two. There are numerous P&PU gons and TPRR(Tazewell and Peoria RR, P&PU's new name since Leased by Geneseo & Wyoming Parent Company in 2004) gons that travel back and forth from the scrap yards to the Keystone Steel and Wire Mill a mile or 2 south of the PPU Kickapoo Yard (which is next to all the local scrap yards). The P&PU has several trips daily from its Main Yard in East Peoria (Tazewell County) 3 miles across the Illinois River to the Kickapoo Yard in South Peoria (Peoria Count). Each trip brings scrap loads from all the major RRs that come into the Peoria Area, so there is a very wide variety of road names represented in the marshalling yards at Keystone.
With spray painted numbers, surely they're captive service. BTW- Do you have any history on how the P&PU might have interacted with the M&St.L? Boxcab E50
The M & St L was before my time...both in terms of the era I'm modeling and in my arrival in the Peoria Area in 1974. The main yard was just north of Iowa Junction in Peoria, and the CNW and BN lines both ran along the eastern edge of the M&St L yard as they headed out of Peoria to the north and west. I'll check my maps and see what I have... Check out PeoriaRails, a Yahoo group focusing on past and present RRs in the Peoria and Central Illinois area.
