This is the horrid "fire truck" that comes with the 1960 era fire station model that nearly everyone has built at one time or another. It is loosely based on a real 1920's circa American LaFrance ladder truck. I enjoy the challenge of turning a "sow's ear" into a silk purse. I did this with just a few simple modifications like: new grills, bumper, headlight, wheels, steering wheel from railroad upright brake wheel. I removed the molded on plastic storage bin on top and replaced it with a surplus roofwalk. After the picture was taken, I filled the bin with 1:160 scale axes, pike poles and hoses. The rear of the vehicle was cut out and filled with 6 ladders stored in racks (as in the prototype truck) As with most of my n-scale fire trucks, the ladders are real wood, laser cut by Tony Burzio.
