Highway bridge on the T&GL

A two lane road runs the length of the layout. To carry the road over a river that divides the expansion, I made this concrete arched bridge. The main body of the bridge was carved from two inch thick styrofoam insulation (the same material that makes up the terrain). On top of the foam arch I glued several sections of Rix roadway and railings followed by aged concrete colored paint for a 1930's WPA built look. I took the photo before planting the forest on either side of the river, since pretty much only the middle of the span would be readily visable afterwards.
