Yep Thats the 4501, Looking good as ever. Sad though its all crammed up into an old shed outside the Tennesee Valley Railroad Museum
This is my dads favorite steam locomotive. But i been to the TVRM a long time ago i belive in Chatanooga,Tenn
Yeah Thats where its at. I remeber Seeing it run. Quite a bit. i even have some footage and pics when it came through Salisbury and Mocksville NC just around here in the area that i live
The 4501 Was last used in the making of the movie October Sky. in the year around 2002 I belive. Before the movie they painted it in a Black scheme and Lettered it for Norfolk and Western. After the movie it was kept black but lettered back to Southern. Im sure it was used for a while longer pulling the excoursions around the Tennesee Valley Railroad Museum. But Since then it has been Parked here under the Shed right beside the Backshop of the TVRM. Overall Condition is Out of 10 I would say about a 7 But it is not operable at this time. And i dont think they plan to Bring it Back anytime Soon.
Well, at least it's under a roof. Much better than many other "preserved" steamers. Perhaps since it's run in recent years, the condition isn't too far gone. So it could operate again. Boxcab E50
