      This picture just akes you ill. Lets hope it finds someone or a team with deep pockets that are in need of a project. Funny, I don't recall seeing many engine pictures without the tender.

      I remember in the late 50's and 60's seeing the Diesels pulling 2 or 3 steam locomotives off to the scrap heap somewhere. Oh but to have the ability to develop the pictures in my mind!

      I believe the story behind this engine is that the Tennesse Valley RR picked it up from the US Army along with the #610 that they use in tourist train opperations. The 610 was fully opperational when they got it. The 611 had been used for target practice. The Army origionally bought these locomotives to train soldiers how to run steam in case we ever invaded a country like China where they were still using it.
