2008 Intermodal Contest - Scratch Built Category

The Canadian Pacific Railway and it's Express arm; The Canadian Pacific Express Company converted one car in 1965 (CP 4001) and then four others in about 1967 into COFC cars. They produced twenty containers and then expanded the series to ten cars by the end of the 1960's. My model is based on a 80' American Limited core kit, slightly extended. I used home made styrene for the sides of the car and scale lumber for the deck; I used but three photo's for reference for the project. The "cans" are Bachmann and / or Model Power and painted and given home made decals. The car is virtually scratchbuilt, but the cans are only decorated by me.[Custom made decals] Submitted By : Mike McGrattan
