18" curve layout

This was my first idea for a layout. I really like the feel of the double mainline going across the top (front) of the layout. I wanted to run passenger cars on the dogbone, but I'm afraid the loops will be too tight and it won't look good. I've designed a track with 22" turns as well, but I have to give up the double mainline to make it work decent. Is one better than another?
