I'm afraid your husban did do a ooops. Those black strips that go up and down dehind the ladder on the side are suppose to go on the front and back and not the sides. I see there is kadee couplers installed. Once you install the small parts such as ladders and hand rails on any of the American series box cars, collectors consider them used.
