You'll need a couple more to handle shipments of dual overhead chrome plated dipstick kits, 710 caps and spray cans of clutch grip.
More work done on my M&StL RS-1 I have completed building the new louvers over the radiator section on the roof and installed the steam era bell and marker lights on the front of the unit. Also installed all the grabs (except two that will be painted and installed later over the white stripe on the unit). In addition all the lift rings have been installed. The white thing on the engineer's side of the radiator shutters is an awning for the canvas covering the M&StL used during the winter to keep the engine compartment warm. Now on to the paint shop! Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
Knowing the variety they had, it will be very interesting to see which unit/paint scheme you've chosen!
I will be in the last scheme most of the units were repainted into, bright red with black roof depending on the unit along with a white stripe around the unit. The original units all came with different paint schemes as the M&StL had just came out of bankruptcy and they wanted to show they had a lot of units and not just the same few units just coming around. So each order for RS-1's came with a different paint scheme. Rick Jesionowski
With the heat and finishing projects related to the storm damage I have been pretty much away from the RR. I have been able to do some weathering of cars at odd times. For your viewing pleasure...... A 54' AGP covered hopper, not sure if it is InterMountain or Athearn. I picked it up at a train show with no box. Weathered with pan pastels, some acrylic paint on the trucks and graffitti with pencils. I like the way the pencils look. 2 Acurail ACF covered hoppers, again acrylic on the trucks and wheels, lightly dusted with chalk to look dirty. I picked up 3 of these the last time I visited Branson. A PW 50' box car from Details West. I got this car prior to 1990 and built it. Weathered with water-soluble oil, and pan pastels. I am also adding the reflection stripes to the cars to bring them up to today's requirements. I am making the effort to stripe all my cars. Thanks for looking, Dale
Nice work! Really like the "replaced" sheet of roofing on the P&WR car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yup. Schroeder red. Didn't look bad, but sure was a big change. Their original scheme F units were gorgeous. Wish I could have seen them in person. True. I am certainly a fan. Belong to several M&St.L on-line groups.
It is ready for paint, but first I have to figure out how to get the windshield and other window glass out of the cab without breaking it!!!!!! Rick J
I have used Liquid Mask quite successfully in the past. I ordered it from Micro Mark I believe. I do 2 coats over the windows and when done, it peels right off.
This is for something that I hope to have on my workbench if I can get the measurements I want, so I'm posting it here: Anyone ever use one of the Plastruct HO 5-1/2 Towers? I think it's part # 94892 or something. I'm assuming the 5-1/2 is the height... Anyone know the other dimensions off hand?
I'm working on three box cars similar to the TBX car I did a little over a year ago....and a caboose that I have an idea for. Also working on the D&RGW 3114....
A bottle of Snapple and a Milwaukee Road box car kit. I had been without a work bench for months as we renovated two rooms, one being the one where the bench was. The powers to be made it pretty clear that there wouldn't be piles of "junk" on the bench. I put a couple of wall cabinets above the bench to keep projects clear of the bench when work wasn't being done. Happy wife, happy life.
Finally got around to painting my M&StL RS-1 and will be applying the decals this week. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
