This month's releases include a triplet of unlettered spine log cars, a root-beer reefer. a pair of circus wagons and a mixed-consist freight train powered by a MTL repainted Atlas H16-44 dressed for the ATSF in blue and yellow. Complete List here: April MTL Releases
The Micro-trains train set with the Atlas Fairbanks Morse H16-44 is numbered 3019. The only numbers Atlas has offered in that paint scheme were 3010, 3013 & 3017. SO... at the very least... Micro-trains probably renumbered one of those other models.
The rerelease of the Elwood's Root Beer woodside reefer ought to bring down the crazy stupid prices folks are asking for the earlier run. BTW, why is it referred to as an "April Fools Car"?
I dont complain much...but... I find this post very misleading. From the title of the post to the title of the link at the bottom in the post... I fully expected to be taken to Micro Trains website when I clicked on that link at the bottom...not the OP's personal website. Great way to rack up clicks on a personal website...Just Sayin...
Hey George, here is a link to the Micro News http://sopacincg.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/MN-1604.pdf Yes, I have a copy hosted on my hosting account.
Because Elwood's was invented by Bill Pirie for Red Ball Ltd. of Medford, OR. MTL is actually admitting that the car is a genuine foob - in contrast to some of their other releases that might be otherwise generously referred to as stand-ins. http://www.oldmodelkits.com/blog/pl...ll-ltd-pioneer-ho-kit-manufacture-since-1939/
OK, next time I make a post like this, I will put a link to the new flyer pdf and make it VERY clear that the "list" goes to the database version and the "pdf" goes to the MTL newsletter. I apologize for not making this more clear in the original post.
Could be, but my understanding was that MTL did the repainting themselves. Perhaps George from UMTRR can clarify?
I picked up the pair of stock cars, that's the one car type that's under-represented in my collection.
The Rio Grande tank car is a guaranteed buy for me... fortunately not much more excites the senses this month . Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
Once again I am safe. It's been so long now, I cannot recall when last something was offered I could use. At least three, if not four years?
Perhaps you could verify your information. My understanding is that the loco was painted entirely by Atlas and that there was no subsequent repainting performed by MTL.
I ordered three of the MILW baggage mail cars. I am thinking about the stock cars as well. My end is under-represented too, I have roughly 1600 cars in my fleet but only 6 stock cars... I suffer from reefer madness...I got 400 of those
Me too -- just not much made by M-T these days that inspires me. Their graffiti-covered gangland cars and rusty merger re-stencil cars just don't appeal. Years ago I mailed this photo to M-T of an LV boxcar I shot in the early '80s along with information and never received a response. They choose not to do a car like this, but instead produce a Ringling Brothers Extravaganza Giraffe Car? (I'd paint an LV 8395 myself, but I don't think decals for such have ever been produced.)
