They look good... how different are they from the Kato sets issued a few years ago. Are these brass versions?

Hit a decent jackpot today! Went looking for a couple of Lionel pieces a friend needed for Her
Lionel trains set! The one she remembers from her childhood! Found what she needed, and I
ended up finding several things that filled my library a bit more!
Found a 6-8 foot braided airbrush hose for $5.
Found copies of the following books:

    Rio Grande Diesels, V3
    Have 2 of each now!

Can move forward with project with these books!
Plan to dismember one complete set, scan to computer, burn CD.
Books, when done, will be placed in vinyl page protectors and put in a notebook.
Will still have 1 complete set of books on hand yet!

    Rebel of the Rockies
    Hardcover! 1st Edition, 1962
Have it in paperback as well.

    Always a Cowboy
Judge Wilson McCarthy and the Rescue of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad
    2008, Utah State University

Portrait of a Silver Lady, with slip cover!
Have book already, no slip cover. Open, but shrink wrap still pretty much
    intact over outer case!!

Had a few other Rio Grande books, that just arrived. Also
noted several MILW books as well. Depending on availability, price, and
my interest, I may consider going after the MILW books!

Was not expecting anything to catch my interest, but today........I done good!
Which is interesting, since the first time I went, I was NOT impressed at all.
Now, I stand corrected, for now!

    Howdy,

This set is of the 1939 Daylight. The Kato is the 1941 Daylight. This one is brass. Far superior to the Key version of the same 1939 Daylight. This one has full interior details, under body details and the roll way better than the Key cars.

    Thanks,
    Wolf

A bit of interest in the electrified section, from Harlowton, MT to Sandpoint, ID.
Have a 2 1/2 x 5 Foot map, framed, of the Harlowton yard. And photos, IF I knew
where they were, taken from in and around Substation #2.

Too many books now, as it is, and 90% are Rio Grande related!

Waiting for the latest car to be released!
Should be the first of a couple of Showcase cars.
Six cars remain, after this, if I recall reading right!

Gotta get my GS4 running right next!
    Free wheels forward, NO power.
Runs fine in reverse. Guessing something not seated right.
    Have no ideas though.

So I spent part of the weekend and a few minutes here n there this week applying the corrugated roofing I bought.

Now to figure out the weathering. This is set in the twenties with a premise of the line being only 30 years old.

Gotta be some rust, if that structure has been around a while.

Keith, I think the AFT was only 22 cars, but I hope you're right. I wonder if Lowell Smith could be convinced to make a matching business / observation car for the end of the train !!! Good luck with that GS4. It seems some railroads had their Bicentennial Diesels used as helpers (or billboards !!!) with the GS4. I need to get those going. Well...they go, but they ain't painted !!!

I have never figured out why Walthers didn't offer the smoothsided version in CN or VIA colours. (They are surprisingly close to the FEC cars that CN bought and removed the fluting on)

I finally bought something train related! Sculptamold, Magic Water, Fine Leaf Foliage, and a bunch of cheap Wally World craft paints. Things are getting serious now.

Ah. You got lucky? Am wondering about that exterior. Was it previously painted? Or is that just a light corrosion?

Need any brass cabeese to go with it? :)

It's got some discoloration under the lacquer. I think that makes it a prime candidate for a paint job !

The Bi Polars were Passenger motors , I won't need a caboose for this one. Touraluxe sleepers would be the choice!!!
