I went to a shop near us that deals in Lionel extensively. I had no intention of buying anything as he seldom has anything I can use. Well, he fell into a bunch of N scale stuff. I was very tempted to get some ore cars. There were a bunch of them but mostly older with Rapido couplers. I think I have to go back with my billfold. All of the stuff is in outstanding condition and I have to fill out some trains.
Been wanting a set of these since BLMA announced them. Finally found a set at the price I wanted to pay. Brian
Just got this in the mail. Several PC board tie sets from American Tie and Timber. Plan to use these on my layout where there will need to be insulated gaps at reverse loops, etc. I'm using M/E code 55 track but checking these out they look like they would work with most makes and codes of track. After I get some installed, I'll follow up with a message on how it went.
BRASS MODELS! Sort of... No, not brass locomotives fabricated by Japanese or Korean technicians. I needed to use some Walthers GOO and found my tube in the house had thickened where I couldn’t use it for anything that needed a fine touch. I found a tube in my workshop in wife’s old pottery studio out in back, but I needed to have some on hand. Don’t know anyplace to get it within 200+ miles, so I checked on a Walther’s internet order. Owww! Minimum shipping almost $12! So, TWO tubes of GOO. What else? They had a special on 2 MiniMetals GMC old style (40s-50s) city transit buses for $5.98. Good for my downtown “Galveston Strand” and station scene. And the 2 buses came with etched BRASS details to add: side mirrors and windshield wipers. I had wanted some window air conditioners for Bay Point Inn, and had some old plastic AC parts but not enough for 6 guest rooms + an office. Ordered a pack of 12. Expected white metal castings but turned out to be a sheet with etched BRASS parts. From BLMA. Finally, a sheet of Gold Medal Models etched-metal chain link fence. Oh boy, BRASS! Not a brass loco or railcar, but better kind of brass than old brass track.
Got this actual NP steam era class loght and NP hand lantern that has been welded to a pipe and turned into a yard light as partial payment from a customer last week. Drooling a little! OK, lots! Now to figure a way to mount the light by the trainshed step.....
I just recently bought a spectrum 2-8-0 for 58 dollars on ebay. My first steam loco other than the 0-6-0 and 2-6-2
Went to train show at Century II last Sat. Came back with MTL SW1500 in CN paint, MTL caboose in CN, Huberts gondola ( CN ), an Intermountain cylindrical hopper (CN) and an Atlas MP-15 (BNSF) (Whew!!!!!!!!)
Friday I bought a Rivarossi Big Boy from consignment and added a decoder with sound. Monday I ordered the Athern Big Boy, and purchased CON-COR KATY MKT Texas Special limited edition set circa 1980. My next challenge is to convert to DCC which CON-COR tells me is basically impossible! I also bought a KATO Amtrak Phase Vb and cars. I have added the MRC 1645 drop in... and lost the plastic plug at the same time... I bought an NCE PRO CAB, 10 AMP supply, then a 5 AMP supply... blew it up and bought another..... Just ordered the Power PRO for when I travel. I can't seem to stop!!!! Help!!
Lol! Thanks Mtntrainman... just to show how crazy this, I don't have a layout as yet to run them on! Just my programming track. I guess I'll try the blood transfusion!
Hope? Abandon hope all ye who enter here! Trains are your lifw bloooooooood now! ( evil laughter) Now that I over spent for Christmas, I find a reasonably priced 2-8-0 bt Spectrum! Yup, I don't need another steam loco...............but it is such a nice runner! OK!OK! A check is on it's way!
I just received these. I love the weight of metal castings. Now I need to swap the trucks for MTs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just ordered the BLI A-A UP Centipede. Pete sent me an e-mail, that it is on the way. On Monday i received another Atlas Two truck Shay to join the six I have from the original run. This Shay will be easier to install a decoder into as the motor is isolated from the frame. In my five original Atlas Two Truck Shays, I installed a Lenz 511W decoder in each one. This was the best decoder that was available at the time that these Atlas Shays were originally released. Having fun with it.... Shades
