Just in case Boxcab didn't feel like flashing his dancing banana... otherwise some might get the wrong impression. LOL :)

I'll probably be getting at least a SP version if they have the 'tiger stripe' or 'black widow' scheme.

Well, they've got my money for the black B&M unit at least... that's something I've been asking for for years.

Oh wait, the B&M units are Blue DIP on their site but they show a black on on Facebook, I'm a little torn now. Hopefully a black unit will be forthcoming but I may order up a blue one anyway.

So, the wheelbase of the SWs didn't change much through the SW12s then. I see, on the site, it has the length over the buffers (I assume they mean coupler faces) as 87mm. One of my SW12s measires 90mm over the MT coupler faces.

I guess it was just the hood that was shorter on the SW1 with the little "bump" (I think that's a tool box, isn't it?) on the front of it.

BTW, I want Milwaukee Road units too as those were the ones I used to watch in Austin when I was a teen in the sixties (yeah, 1965 - about 1968).

I've been looking for photos of SW-1's in S.P. schemes and it appears as though they only wore; plain black, orange tiger stripes & 'maybe' grey/scarlet.

I could not find any 'black widow' scheme photos. The 'tiger stripe' scheme would be good for me though.
It will go well with the Bachmann S4 & Atlas VO-1000 models I have.

I wonder if the chassis for the SW-1 is about the same size as the chassis for an ALCo HH-660 which S.P. also had???
If so... a 3D print of an HH-660 would be great to fit over the SW-1 chassis.

This is not entirely true. Because they were small, low horsepower locos many railroads would lash up multiple units to make them more useful. I have a video where they are chasing a Milwaukee local that has five SW1s MUed elephant style as the power, way cool!:) I for one will buy one of every CB&Q and Milwaukee road number they make!:teeth:

Yup. The Milwaukee was well noted for running three, four five of these together, for many years, on their lighter railed branches of Southern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa.

Argh. Decals. I'd forgotten about that setback. Well, maybe someone will do them. Or the factory will accurately paint a commercially available unit. Already a favorite RR, I am really excited about what might be....

The question for me is do I wait and see if they do it in C&O colors or just buy one and repaint? I see street preorder price of $100.

I think it all depends on how well this first run sells. The limited run might also be an indication that they plan on building a more.

Open the video in full-screen mode and get dizzy watching the twirling SW1s.
One wonders if at least as much effort went into designing the product as went into producing the promo.
Now that we've seen the trailer, when do we get to see the loco in operation?

I talked to the guy at the Hornby booth in Sacramento last month. It is an all new mechanism. I was hoping for some new upgraded parts to replace the split gears on the old S2 Alcos but no joy. Not compatible.

I am hoping the wild rumor department is on target, and a second run will be happening.
