A good topic. Many of us have paused and wondered. Probably a lot of layouts which could have rolled on, were dismantled instead.

The Grande Pacifc was first created to fill the room 20 x 50 next create the longest mainline run. Then 4.5 ft asiles. Then how many industries could be put in . This is operational layout. Cities and country side are not in my thinking. It about moving trains. and cars. Should be some helpful tips you can use when you revamp a layout.

You took a look at your present backdrops and just didn't find them as exciting anymore. Or maybe you don't have any backdrops and it's time to consider adding them. Here's an idea for you. Tips For Making A How To Video Caution, not everything you will see in a homemade movie will be good advice. Some of these movie makers are enjoying the fact they can make a movie. Wow, you can turn yourself into a movie star and be recognized...well...I best leave this alone. Actually I'm thankful that some of these fine folk are trying desperately to help other modelers. A real positive in my book. Something I didn't have when I first started. If you are going to make a home movie of your layout and you want to make a How To. Here are some helpful hints. Lighting, have proper lighting so details can be seen. No shadows. Mike-up yourself and other participants so that all can be heard clearly. No talk over's. Camera, needs to be of high quality. Make sure it is pointed at the work you are doing. Not at some lonely spot with nothing going on. Have someone who is a amateur photographer help you set up your shots and handle the camera. A good camera person can make all the difference in the world. Pan the camera slowly. I don't know how many times since I started posting You Tube videos here I found my self wishing they'd slow down. Do, do make sure if you are talking about something on your model railroad the camera is pointed at it. Write a script or brief notes of what you want to say or talk about. Some sort of step one, step two, and etc. Use as much as possible the verbiage or lingo of the modelers. A uniform communication hopefully helps keep the line of communication open. "And", you knew there had to be one of those. "And", when dubbing in sound and you are operating a steam engine, don't dub in the sound of a Alco diseasel. Sigh! Just some thoughts and you may have other's as well. Where is your submission and no I won't critique it. Grin!
Train Layout Fascia Board Installation - Tips and Tricks Let's say your layout is coming along nicely and you want a bit more of a finishing touch to it. Humm...what's missing. Fascia Board around the layout. Oh yeah, I've been putting that off because I don't know how to install it. Help is on the way. I used door skin and I do mean door skin. Not so flexible but does add a finishing touch to my layout. Watch out for the splinters. Dang those hurt. I've tried several times to post an image from my computer and nothing, nada, zippo. Once from Attachments and the other times from the Insert Image. Any suggestions? I just discovered the exclamation mark and when I directed the pointer at it up jumps an error message...to big a picture. Oop's Besides no one really needed to look at it, it would only convince them to use something else. Grin!
What about those toyish looking buildings on the layout? Tired of those silly paint jobs or false fronts? Maybe it's time to ramp it up and try your hand at constructing some new buildings? How to hand lay your own switches. Who in the hell would want to spend all that time on one switch? Let me put it this way. You are tired of all the store bought switches never mind you can't get the ones you want. Electrical contacts and alleged power routed switches are cause for dismay. Espeacilly when you have to hard wire everything in so it will work right. The points won't close on a regular basis. And the switch machines are the worst. Maybe, it's time to take things up to another level. Darn if they don't use that danged "T" word. Those engineering types are as bad as the rivet counters. Grin!
