Sooooooooooo...THE Wife and I where out running trains last night. The misc. parts box was sitting on the doghouse of THE RV. She reach in and grabs something. Stealing a line from the movie "Airplane"...it went something like this: THE Wife: Honey, what can you make out of this? [Hands me the top window portion of the Kato signal tower I didnt use when making THE Gaurd Shack] Me: This? Why, I can make a hat or a brooch or a pterodactyl - Anyways....I told her she would see the next day. So I putzed around later for about an hour after she went back in the house...and this is what I came up with... A Greenhouse for 'THE Homestead' !!! (I still have to find a door somewhere...hmmmmm) BTW...'THE Homestead' takes up the whole back/center of THE Layout at the end of the aisle.
Son, you are Good! Though I see a possible down side, The Wife may want a 1:1 Scale Greenhouse now...uh oh. :uhoh:
Alright, George and his Wife are now back to work on the layout. Nice greenhouse. Door? Who needs a f...ing door (Frickin, not the other word) Just throw up a piece of plastic. Grin!
UUUummmmmmmmmm...we do...LOL. I took BarstowRicks idea and cut a thin piece of styrene and glued it on the left side. I mean...you know...we have to have a door that closes...dont want no $^%$$%%$%)****^&^ cats sneeking in an diggin in the nice potting mix and well...pottying ;-) Actually had that happen in an actual greenhouse we had about 20 years ago. Must be why I'm a dog lover....LOL
OK....kinda cool... I wa running (2) four axle trains earlier this morning...before THE Wife woke up. When I was done I pulled both trains into Lucky Penny Yard and shut the throttles down to zero. I went inside...watched the news for an hour snd then Price is Right after THE Wife got outta bed. After Price is Right was over I went back out to THE RV. I look and one train aint in the yard where I parked it !! I scoured the rails and found it behind THE Engine Shop. I was telling THE Wife that I know I didnt park it over there! She says "Honey...that train is moving!!" I get over there and sure enough....its creepinng along at a tie per second ! I check the throttle and I musta bumped it when hanging it up...cause it was set at (1) on the display. I couldnt believe this thing had crept about 3/4 of the way around the layout for 2 hours !!! I figured that: Unitrack has right at 12 ties per foot. The train ran at (1) tie per second or 60 ties per minute. Thats 3600 ties per hour ! OR...7200 ties for those 2 hours I was in the house !! I did some quick figuring on how many feet was on that portion of the layout and decide it had run approx. 60 feet in 2 hours !!!! AWESOME * I am also now satisfied that there are no dead spots in any of that 60 feet of track...LOL *
WOW blame the "wife"=not good...lol Brave man. I would have just called myself a DA and went back inside....All that math makes my head hurt..
Aha,Mr. Murphy is alive and well, and currently visiting THE RV. Fortunately, he was so busy running your trains that he didn't have time to mess with your track.
Oh NOoooooooooo...I didnt blame her...in fact she was tHe one saw it moving...lol. My fault I bumped the throttle knob hanging it up and left it on step 1. THE Wife is totally innocent...this ime...hehehehehe.
Yea...is kinda scary. I dont like leaving the trains running when I am not in there. I fried a truck on a GP 38-2 doing that :-( Mr Murphy musta been having a good day ;-)
Good thing those 1.8 scale miles of track were clear! If you hadn't caught it when you did, you might have had to find n scale Denzel Washington and Chris Pine to stop the train. LOL This is one reason I always make sure I turn off track power when leaving the layout. I had a similar experience, though it only went about ten feet.
Normally I hit the "emergency stop" button on the throttle....which keeps anything from moving. I have to turn off power at the Inverter to kill the command station. But...that turns everything off...including the AC or...with winter around the corner...the heater. I'm just gonna have to figure out a way to have a "Power Off" switch for the layout near the door If it aint one danged thing its another eh ? LOL
Ha ha. Almost like being back in my college trig class again... The good part is his train did not end up on T.H.E. F.L.O.O.R in a thousand pieces!
