Nice fleet of loco's! The Rock is a mighty fine line… The HOn3 layout is nicely done too! The cabinets as bases is a great idea.

I was wondering if you had done anything or were thinking about HOn3.. :teeth:

Nice video. What's your normal operating crew size?

LOL! It's hard to resist that Narrow Gauge bug!

I've been busy working on getting some of my older F units and ALCo's chipped for this session.
I need to clear off some small nuisance projects that are cluttering up my work bench so I get back to the buildings in Malvern.

Were there actually multiple diamonds at Ruston? A tower?

BTW- What is the music? I recognize it, but cannot bring up a group name. I want to say Alan Parsons Project?

Not that I'm aware of. I think it was just one diamond, and I don't know if there was an interchange track or not?
But there is on this layout! LOL
I know there wasn't a tower, the one I have there is just there for looks right now. I doubt I'll use a tower, maybe just a shack?

Your asking about multiple diamonds? I only have one at Ruston. Ruston in the video has the tower and two curved sidings, one has blue tape on it. I'm planning to remove one of those sidings shortly.

Then there is another diamond closer to Winnfield, this is where they crossed the KCS. It's called Tioga Junction. The KCS track runs off the layout.

The one 90° that is just outside the yard was needed since I have the section of track that makes my continuous loop.

You're right, it's Alan Parsons Project. Mammgamma is the name of it.
I wanted something that was just instrumental and it seemed to fit the bill.

Hmm. Thought I spotted two diamonds in the same vicinity, but I guess I didn't look closely enough.

I'll check on that music. Hadn't heard it in a while. I should have it in my "library" of tunes.

    Here's an older shot of the area that shows everything but one diamond;
There's one in the foreground at Ruston, another on the right where it crosses the KCS, just past Tioga Jct.
The last one is in the far back behind the building next to the tower.
You might have been thing of the crossovers at Tioga?

Yes. That's the scene. In my mind, the distance as pictured somehow became compressed.

With a long weekend and the help of my Mother (who likes to sew), I finally managed to get the rest of the skirting hung around the layout!

Does a great job of hiding all the crap under the layout! Not too mention a good sense of accomplishment. There area few more shots on blog.

How are the skirts attached? I'm guessing velcro?

    Yep!
On the main portion of the layout, I stuck them behind the fascia.
On the yard I stuck them on the front since the yard never had any fascia.

I used Jr. Broadcloth, which is pretty lightweight.

OK, I've made some good progress in the last month or so. Got through two ops session: April and August, got a a batch of Red and Black F units and RS's chipped and setup, cleared a bunch of small nagging projects off the workbench and got the skirting all hung!
So that leaves me with Malvern.

Earlier this week I decided to gather up all the stuff that I needed to get back to work on the buildings in Malvern that I started back in January.
Here is where I left off with the poured concrete Olin-Chlor building:

I had just gotten the "For Sale" cut up and I skinned the building with it:

The other night after acquiring some MEK from Menards, I sat down and started to cut and apply a bead around the top of the roof. Then I applied all the vertical ribbing and temporarily set the doors, windows and the unloading dock.

Once this was done, the next night I pulled out the airbrush!

As always there's more on the blog

Any estimate on the cost, so far? I remember another building you'd built, starting with wood blocks, which the end dollar amount was much more than I'd guessed.

If this one hit $10 I'd be surprised?
I had most of the stuff I needed for this one except the For Sale sign [$1.59] and the spray adhesive [$7.59].
If I had to buy everything fresh for this building, maybe $22.
That would be the paint, the spray adhesive, the small door and window and the styrene strips for the vertical ribbing and roof edge and the sandpaper for the roof.

A heck of a lot cheaper than the Crushmoore building.
    :)

Well it's been awhile since my last update.
Along with some maintenance and other small projects, the building at Ohlin-Chlor in the previous post has been on hold as has everything else it seems since fall came around.

A few months ago my friend Steven decided to take the plunge into the Tab-On-Car forwarding system after watching a video by Mark Dance and playing on his buddies layout. After getting all his stuff made up and in place, he had his first session with it with great results, I decided to give it a try as well and use my Wheel Report spreadsheet as the traffic generator.

We had the first dry run last weekend and I finally got the blog updates with all the pictures.
    Here are a few shots.

It has been a while. Did you get any of the recent cold and snow?

Can you link me back to your wheel report page? I'd like to look at that again.

We got the cold: 7° one night and about 2.2" of the white stuff. Just starting to come out of the deep freeze this weekend, maybe 50°?
    How about you?
