Not a problem, Steve. We can stretch this party out as long as necessary! :)

Don't say that!!!!!! I'm having a hard enough time staying focused developing my track track building techniques and my practice diarama.
I've always wanted to build a box cab and have everything I need to do it, (except time)............
The 60t GE round nose demonstrator shown here would be cool, http://sbiii.com/jfcageir/ageir.html but w...a...y beyound my brass working skills. The tail end of an old Arnold observation car might be close though......
See, I'm getting side tracked already.

OK then, for everyone BUT Steve, this party continues ad-infinitum. For Steve, if he's not finished by President's Day, no soup for you!

Aaaaaaand, Just like that I am back in the game.....
I have a chassis that was laying around from another failed project, and I found some brass sheet I had forgot about, I have a wagon topped box on trucks right now, Pictures later......

I was doing so well trying to stick to one project, but playing around with my Englenook Sidings style practice diarama today and realized the lead into the three way is to short for even a Class a climax and a log car, but it will fit a small two axle switcher and some disconects or four wheel ore cars. I just ordered one of these from Plazajapan on ebay. 4 wheel chasis.jpg
I'll need beyond presidents day for mine!

PS does this need to have an internal combustion engine to count as a box cab

Nope, doesn't need to be internal combustion. Gas, electric, coal, biofuel, futuristic fuel thingies, chicken p**p, whatever! And with that little sucker, it'd be super easy to model this:

That's a sharp little beauty there. I always liked the Valley's little three axle Mack boxcabs.

I'm going to freelance like M.C. I think his mechanic and mine drink the same brand of whiskey, cheap. It's been roumered my mechanic cuts his with kerosene when it's getting close to payday.
Deep Hollow Lumber needs a wood burner. Thats the only way I can justify I'm staying focused on the test diarama. I need a scratch built locomotive small enough to run on it.:tb-wink:

Don't think of it as a failed project. Think of it as a project that helped hone your modeling skills to the level they are at today. I have a cabinet full of stepping stones!!!!!!
I can't wait to see your pictures. I'm leaning towards brass also. Every little bit of weight will help on my little critter.

Weight is where my little guy needs the most help. In fact, I may just forego working lights altogether in order to have more weight in there. I'm more concerned with it working than for little n-scale guys to be able to see at night.

    I'm calling OSHA!

    Maybe add lights on top?

I've got the headlamp assemblies on it, I just don't know if it'll weigh enough if I sacrifice valuable space inside when I could fill it with more weight. Oh well, not in a rush to make a final decision right this second anyway.

Meanwhile, glad you chimed in. Do you mind if I shave down the sideframes on the E-units? I'm trying to make it so the side skirts will work without limiting you to something like 30-inch curves. What say ye?

Why not make the skirts float as part of the trucks. The Zephyr and Areotrain did that.

    Still here...

Just got my decals in the mail today. They look sweet compared to the inkjet ones I made. I can't wait to try them out but I don't want to rush it.

I also have to pick a time when I don't have too much coffee in me. Hey... maybe I should ask MC's engineer if I could have a nip to steady my hands - for "medicinal purposes" only, of course.
