Aer there any Any Kato N Scale roumers? about what they are about to do or in the future? I would love to see the Union Pacific Gas Turbine with A,B units plus the tender. Allso the SD40 with desart storm camo, What are your thoughts? Please if interested contact Kato on the USA website and suggest a model:tb-biggrin:
I'd really like to see a revival of the SD45's and the C30-7's Then again, I'd like to be 21 again too!
The rumor mill has been quiet lately. Hopefully we'll hear something by the N Scale Convention next month.
The Olympian Hiawatha would attract my cash. That or virtually any steamer announcement, otherwise my cash goes elsewhere (which by the sound of past rumors, it likely will).
This is fact; not rumour; it's 100% reliable........ready..................? Kato will make whatever their domestic market will eat up and might, just might interest the North American's along the way................ 100% true; it's a lock......................... Kato isn't listening to me; you or Bob down the street. They are listening to the guys who pay the freight - their domestic market. We're an afterthought..........albeit an important one; but were second......get used to it. Must be nice to have their business plan.....I'm envious.
I have been told that Westmodel ( Aspen ) is working on a N scale Camel back to be released late this year. They Did not have any more info or photos but hope to have more when I place the next order. rich www.rslaserkitsw.com North American Aspen Dealer
I'll start a rumor, you can take it down to the convention and see if Kato is overwhelmed by the interest and forced to act! 4-4-0 and 4-4-2 steam that run like a Mikado AND the appropriate associated passenger and freight cars! They will be released by the time my budget has recovered from recent spending. And now back to your regullarly scheduled thread.
There was a research project in early 2008 to do a different style truck for the C30-7. It was a different casting that had the holes in the sideframe centered between the axles whereas the current version has the holes close to the outer axles. I think the intent was to do high-mount brake cylinders as well on that truck. All of a sudden there was instructions that no old models(old being U30's,C30's, SD40/45's and older) were to be re-released at the current time and the subject was dropped. Had that not happened we would probably have some U30C's and C30-7's with modifications and possibly SD45's with high-mount brake cylinders and of course new road names for all 3 models. On the other hand at the same time, people were asking and pleading. So, probably not wanting to be behind the 8 ball Kato delivered with a bang. In with the ACe's!!!and not just any ACe's but the entire UP Heritage unit fleet for starters. Just as they're catching up on ACe's, bring on GEVO!!! All this new stuff going on while making more GG1's, GS-4's, F-units, DRGW PA's, SD80MAC's, SD70M's, Bethgons, new Amtrak stuff, C44-9W's, AC4400's and another CZ set. I know I've forgotten something, but that's a full plate for Kato. Hopefully once things settle down with ACe and GEVO we can get some new runs with DCC ready chassis of those old favorites we have to pay too much for on ebay. After having seen that fancy artwork on the ACe's though. I don't think it's too much to ask for stuff like a UP Desert Storm 40-2 or maybe some BN bi-centennial units or some of those other fancy schemes out there...They'll be worth the wait and hopefully Kato will deliver. And of course I'm sure there will be some new stuff along the way. Rumors from Kato...Mumm always has been and always will be the word from kato unless there's a picture on their poster or in their ad. As for me, I'd like some DD35's A/B, Alco C855's A/B, a DDA40X that I don't have to screw with, Amtrak SDP40F's and a Pooch (GE P30CH). Sorry to be long winded, just my thoughts and what I know.
I think the public would eat up the Santa Fe GP-60M and GP-60B, which means that Kato would be the ones who would do them. Boy, this is a dream I hope comes true !!!! fatalxsunrider43
I am still holding out for the PRR Gotham Limited. (I am a little biased because I actually got to ride that train in 1955)
how about somebody drop a rumor to kato that FVM is going to make sd40-2!!! maybe then kato will make them!!:tb-shocked:
Not much news from Medford & the Zscale convention. It appears MTL will produce what has been promised so far. It appears having been burned by delays in the Z SD40 causes MTL to announce new product closer to actual production. Not sure if some of the circus cars could be released with other road names?
