I have continued work on my ExactRail Evans 4780CF Covered Hoppers! Bolsters have been glued to the body, airlines were glued from the ABD Valve to the Air Reservoir, End Cages and metal grabs were glued to the ends of the car. I still need to straighten and glue the plastic ladder rungs to the car ends. I am down to bulding only two of the three cars I started with as I received two B ends and no A end for one of the cars along with no trucks and screws. ExactRail is sending me the replacements via FedEX per an E-mail I received from them this morning. Thanks for looking! Rick J
I picked up this kit from a company I had never heard of before but like the results. It's a background Warehouse building from "Monster Model works". It's made from Basswood and is laser cut. I still have a few minor details to add to it; but I like what has developed so far.
We used to have quite a few like that down at the Bribane river waterfront. The facades were heritage listed so they were refurbished and had high priced apartments built behind.
One day later I have now completed this model and am quite pleased with the end results. I sure hope this company continues to expand there offerings because I sure like the way there kits are. Instructions are clear and concise, the laser parts aren't difficult to cut away from the Spru, and price is rite. I hope you enjoy the view as much as I enjoyed the build
Thanks Mike, I sure enjoyed the build and fairly easy. I sure hope they continue to expand there line of products. PS: Thanks Mike for the example of the Shelf Benchwork you posted I used that to build my HO layout base. Couldn't have been as easy without your help. Glen
SP/MP depot in Hearne, TX I am building this for a friends layout. The basic shape is framed out. Now I add siding, roofing, Grandt Line windows and doors and all the other details.
That's gonna be a great looking building, did you do the drawings yourself?, 'cause it would take a fair bit of working out with all those angles.
A couple of projects I am working on! New Haven U25B project. This is the rear end of the locomotive with the cast on lift rings shaved and sanded off, then replaced with Utah Pacific GE lift rings. Also added one grab at the top rear of the unit. I installed the side grills but will be painting the top grill work seperately as I want to brush paint the radiators and piping so they can be seen through the grill work. The front of the unit with lift rings and grab installed, still need to install the cut lever and drill holes for the MU cables. The Two Strap Signal box will be installed on the walkway in front of the Engineer which precluded adding a grab in that location. On the New Haven units it looks like they did not add the grab on the fireman's side from the pictures I have seen. I made some progress on my ECW 2600CF Airslide Covered Hopper, have to finish the brake detail, add airlines, car ends and underneath detail and it will be all done. Thanks for looking! Rick J
This "thing" is still overwhelming my workbench. Still a few shingle ridge rows to add and the main roof is finished. Still have the peak roofs to go on top of the two "towers". Then I start on the siding.
I just recently switched from N to HO and finally got around to correcting this engine. I've never been a 100% prototype modeler, but look for the obvious spotting features on engines. Some things are best left unknown for me... So here is my first foray back into HO. I spent a few days converting Athearn CSX CW44AC from #205 to #85. The big ticket items that were changed include: Truck side frames changed from steerable to "sled type" Front and Rear Stanchions changed Kato Cut Levers Kato Windshield Wipers Details West Ditch lights (non-operating so far) from below the porch to porch mounted Details West GPS antenna added Details West Plow Details West Mu Hoses Details West Rearview Mirror/Windscreen Brian
H0 Scale - What's On Your Workbench? Looks nice Brian. The details are one of the reasons I switched to HO. Greg Amer The Industrial Lead gregamer.com
