Gosh, in 1981 it cost over 4 million a year just to repair cabooses?!? I can see now why the RR's wanted to do away with them!!

Much to our surprise the road was closed near the tower. We were ok with the closure because a U.P. crew was moving a car down the road to the display at the tower. Ben

Golden Spike Tower - North Platte, Nebraska I'll see if I can wrap up the Golden Spike Tower shots tonight. Some older tank cars. Here I caught a S.P. tank car. In this shot we captured a Southern box car. You can also see two covered hoppers rolling down the track in the northern hump yard. Ben
The U.P. crew loaded up the side booms and headed out after using them in the display car move. The crew used a loader to adjust the track sections as needed. Ben
