Can't speak as to any real value, however, reading a little further down that page shows: "New: A brand-new, unused, unopened,..." Yet there it sits, for all the world to see, out of the box and obviously opened...

I think that's just a generic Ebay catch all descriptor, but further down the page it says:

New in its original box, long discontinued from MTL

    High Auction value: $1,283.00.

I looked at his "completed Auctions". People are buying his cars.

I always laugh when sellers base their price on "High Auction Value". They should be required to list when some customer (sucker or collector) paid that price. Was it yesterday or years ago before the market collapsed.

Repeat after me... "It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay..."

And let's just say that others are only willing to pay a lot less.

    another lying seller supposed collector

Another super greedy, self proclaimed knowledgable collector. His descriptions and his eBay "about ME" page contradict each other. In one he claims to have been collecting every Micro-Trains Line car monthly up until 2000; on the other he claims that only recently he's discovered collecting Kadee/ Micro-Trains cars. He's bought at least some of his items USED on ebay ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/261177723508 ) and miracle of miracles, those same models end up in his listings as NEW cars a few weeks later, ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/200914336884 )

This isn't an isolated case; I've caught several dozen of these USED cars turned into NEW, listed by him in the past couple of years. Some of which were bought from me.

He's also reliable when it comes to using a fuzzy image - it's a sure thing there's something wrong cosmetically with the car being offered. Most of his other images are crisp.

I also take issue with these quotes from his descriptions. I openly challenge him to show us any car he has for sale that's never been offered on eBay. "The best detailed" statement is not a claim that would be made by any knowledgable n scaler.

"The Cars I offer here are all from my personal collection some common, some rare, alot of them have never been offered on E Bay
MTL are without a doubt the best most detailed & painted cars available to the N Scaler,..."

Another seller who's been screwing newbies for many years. Used to use this ID to shill bid. Now uses it to sell since several of his older IDs have been NARUed.

    Clipped this newbie pretty good:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/370804615324 Bidder's own fault, he could have searched the n scale category. That ROCO track cleaning BN boxcar appears regularly especially used versions, hardly a "Rare" car. You'd think after nearly 13 years on eBay that bidder would be smart enough to know how to use the search engine.

It's dummies like him who allow the nefarious sellers to exist and profit from their dishonesty.

I went and asked the seller:
You say that this item is new, then how do you explain the excessive ware on the wheels? That is more then just a few laps on the test track.

    The sellers response:
    Factory blackened wheels.

No I'm not bidding on it.

Here are four auctions of Micro-Trains cars, all described as NEW. Another eBay miracle as none of them were NEW when he won them from other eBay sellers.

If this is the same seller that I dealt with several years ago [but sold under a different ID but was from the same city/state] the item I bought was decently price with what I thought was a fair shipping price, about $5 at the time.
It took forever to get to me [half way across the states], when it arrived the first thing I noticed was the postage mark:

    MEDIA MAIL - $1.25

I took it right down to the PO and explained what I had and where it came from. I told the postal clerk that I wanted him to open it, which I had not yet. He gladly agreed and then asked if he could make a photo copy of the package, label and the content which was an N scale passenger car.

I don't know how it turned out for him, but the postal clerk told me that it was definitely mail fraud and steps would be taken, he also told me he had a good friend who also worked for the PO in AZ.

A few weeks later, the sellers ID was gone from Ebay! At least that one was.

Marking shipping for one price and then shipping for another is a big gripe of mine!
I had another seller who turned out to be a Man of the Clothe, I won and item for a really good price. It stated Priority shipping = $6.50
I got it in an envelope with very little padding and he mailed it with the postage in plain sight! $1.58 - first class.

I contacted him and asked him if there was there a problem with his flock who wasn't giving enough and if he needed the money that bad?
Within a few hours I had a refund from PP.
A man of the clothe of all people !!!
I know he was a pastor, as he used his own personal return label.

Thats a new one - media mail - good job on what you did. I have has similar cases happen - blatant at times - like a package that was definitely over 13 ounces, sent as 13oz and 1st class. Another person used the SmallFlatRate box to protect the item, and then put that inside a 'bubble wrap' envelope and sent it. At least the USPS has gotten smart and printed their logo all over the inside of the boxes. Some people would pull the box apart, then reglue it inside out, to be able to use a free box but 1st class rate.
My worst arrival was a Proto 2K FA HO unit - while it was in the P2K box, seller put it inside a mailing envelope and sent it - yikes!

As far as the $1.58 person goes - I know that I have made changes in the service before, but will always issue a refund back of the savings.

I was gonna jump at this one, but it doesn't say if it's DC or DCC - whatever it is, but it's a Kato Label, that's gotta mean sumpin' good on offer?

I tried to calculate the postage, but that didn't work, there was no envelope small enough.

The seller has a 100% rating, so it would guarantee a good purchase - NOT! What does seller rating really mean in all honesty?

One time for one of our club holiday white elephant gift exchange/steal events, I painted a Bachmann F7 and caboose in brass and printed up a bogus label for a box with foam insert. Something like "Brass monKEY Imports". Everyone was stealing that one.

To my eyes, it looks like Bachmann GP40 that's been painted brass or gold.
    Am I wrong?
