Hahaha! Nice shot of me in rare form I'll get some more of mine up tomorrow, gotta do some cutting and resizing first. Mike
It wasn't until I downloaded the pictures to my PC that I realized that I got you in the shot. I just hope that you didn't capture me in one of yours. Thanks Hemi! Ben
We caught up to the local one more time before it reached Parachute, but unfortunately I couldn't get a good shot. Maybe Ben got one or two As we came into Parachute, the local was stopped across the freeway, so we took the opportunity to get some lunch. Sitting at the park eating, the local went by with a cut heading up to Encana Oil and Gas. I was only able to get one decent shot, and I wish those signs weren't in the way Mike
Great shots Mike! I'll post some more shortly. Hemi - As you will see I need a cordless sawzall too. Ben
After lunch we headed back toward Grand Junction. As luck would have it we did not see a train on the return trip. Amtrak #5 was due in soon so we setup on a pedestrian bridge to capture some elevated shots which can be seen here. While waiting for Amtrak Mike spotted the Montrose local entering the Grand Junction yard. Ben
With evening approaching we decided to call it a night. I wish we had waited just 5 minutes longer because I caught this east bound train within a minute or two of dropping Mike off. This appeared to be a wrapped passenger car in transit. Light rail perhaps? And 5767 brings up the rear. This concludes all of my pictures from last weekend that I have uploaded. Ben
OH man! Good shots Ben, would have loved to see that covered load. And check the flat with the wheel sets on it! Maybe next time. I had alot of fun chasing trains with you, and hopefully I'll get back up your way next year. Mike
Ben, did you get a chance to head out this weekend? We made it up across Trough road, caught plenty of action, I'll get the pics up next time I get internet connection Mike
Nope. :tb-sad: I hope to get out next weekend a little bit. I am looking forward to your pictures from the Trough Road area. Did you get any good shots while you were in Glenwood Springs? Where are you heading next? Ben
Ben, naa, when we were in Glenwood, nothing went by when the sun was up. Seems like the minute it dipped behind the mountains, there was a parade of them going through We also made it up over Tennessee Pass, got alot of pics of that area also. I wish I could have made it up there when trains were still rolling through, it's so beautiful! Today was it for trains, we'll be heading south making our way back to AZ. Anyhow, just have time to upload one pic, more coming soon The rain clouds were fighting me both days, so they aren't the best, but I tried to fix them with some editing. Mike Empty rolling into Bond
Mike, I'm glad to know that I am not the only one that seems to have train traffic pick up after the sun goes down. Sometimes I wonder if U.P. plans the evening traffic increase just to mess with railfans. I love your Bond picture and am looking forward to seeing more photos of your trip. I too wish that I could have made it up to Tennessee Pass when the line was active. Ben
If anyone does a walk through of Minturn,I'll pay for the fuel! Great pic of Bond, thats the siding for Craig branch on the far left yes?
