How many of these flimsies do you have in your collection? Some of the names of places are great, Bad Axe among them. I assume they are the names of RR CP's and probably can't be found on road maps. :confused2:
Jim- Bad Axe is an actual town. Sometimes the station name, is different from the town. Sometimes it's because the town later grew up around a station. Sometimes the RR changed their station name, to match that town. Other times, they did not. Larger towns might even have more than one station. It makes for an interesting bit of research! I have 182 different stations from the C&O. About 13,000 offices, from 580-590 companies around the world. It's required decades of digging to reach this point! Boxcab E50
Here's some fun info on the locomotives mentioned in some of these flimsies: Order 39 Oct. 15 1947 - (steam) #1108 PM 2-10-2 Order 203 July 2, 1982 - #3583 GP35 Order 109 Oct. 3 1967 - #3031 GP30 Order 16 Nov. 19 1964 - #4002 E8A Order 155 July 28, 1967 - #5935-5970 GP9s Order 7 1943 - #303 PM 2-8-0 or C&O 4-6-4 Order 118 Oct. 30, 1961 - #58 NW2 I just love this thread!!!
Posted previously, another thread. Maybe Tim can tell us what was "engine 5029" ? Noting that it was "dead" in this fashion, has me wondering if possibly steam? Although 40 mph seems a bit too fast... C Cabin (Carey), Ohio: Boxcab E50
Again, an annullment. Probably removing authority for Number 146 to move. Finding anything from this famous location has been very difficult! Cass, West Virginia: Boxcab E50
Order 118 Oct. 30. 1961 also mentions engine number 101 - a PM/C&0 E7 - one of my favorites- missed it earlier!!!
OK. I was wondering if this was moving a dead steamer to scrap. Apparently not. I am not certain how late steam lingered on the C&O? Or how long they might have kept some as a reserve? Some companies, that had dieselized by the early 1950's, still had steam as standby power until the late 1950's. Boxcab E50
Acquired this one, from a retired CN dispatcher. He has since passed on. Quite an interested fellow. Very nice, friendly. Helped me with many locations. Chatham, Ontario: Boxcab E50
