Photos have all been great so far, just wish my luck had been better in Springfield yesterday. I’ll go ahead and post it anyway. It’s Amtrak loading passengers at the Springfield station inch
Is that south of Castle Rock? Sure looks like the namesake landmark in your background... Awesome shot!!! Definitely one worth chasing!
Mrtrain's entry in to the Loads challenge Here is my real entry to the contest Cat equipment going North thru Savanna IL on the BNSF main line. There was three cars of equipment like this.
A bulk head flat car load of West Texas post holes being delivered to the local power company to install utility poles into.
Keep in mind, only one entry per person so pick your best shot... :lightbulb: :lightbulb: :lightbulb: :lightbulb:
LOVE THE CATS!!!! Love the crawlers on the flatcar, Mr. T. If I were the judge, you'd be the winner. Next weekend I'm heading to KC via Amtrak to visit family. I'm heading out railfanning Mon. on the Merceline sub. Hopefullly I can get myself some entries for next weeks challenge.
Russell, I couldn't tell if that bulkhead flat was full of post holes, high performance sailboat fuel, or tubeless tire stuffing. Post holes it is. Really, great pictures everybody!
Great photos all...I dont think I am going to get out and get a photo in time for this one. Really nice work everybody
You mean this one? Load of logs heading south on the PNWR's Oregon Electric line to Albany. From there, this batch may go to a sawmill. Notice the flatcar- it's been converted to haul log loads. There were some "skeleton"-type flats on this train as well. Interestingly, empty centerbeam flats were on either side of this string of log loads- gotta love a product you can ship more than once....
That gon full of wire was interesting- I see those thru Sherman now & then being dropped off at Sherman Wire (car is delivered to DGNO, who serves the afore-mentioned customer). I wouldn't be at all surprised to see that car in Sherman yard this week. Russ- Are you sure that wasn't a load of boats for the Swiss Navy?
Careful entries are time sensitive THarms77, Be careful the contest has been every other week till now and the entries are time sensitive to the "72hours". I learned the hard way by entering some thing from my album and I had my little hand slapped for not READING the rules . Each week it is a new and different challenge just to keep us out there finding trains for the challenge. Don't stop rail fanning just because of poor timing there is always room here some where for rail fan trips. Thanks for the comment on my photo. Check my album for the photos that didn't fit in the challenge.
Some interesting pictures! I too, like the Cat load! What model Cat? Here's my entry: Several loads of pipe headed East through Frasier, Co Sunday, Feb 11. Think they're headed up the Craig branch, but not sure. Will check then update.
Looks like they might be D8s to me. I think they're a little big to be 6's, but I'm not 100% sure. Unfortunately the posted picture doesn't have enough resolution to see the number. Coming from someone who has a pair of D2s in his back yard. Some of my dad's tractors. Note: This page was last updated a long time ago, as you can tell I was a lot younger then. We have also gotten a few more tractors since then, such as a Farmall A and most recently a Ford Jubilee.
