Well since you only asked current roads BNSF. But I'm still working on Tina to back date to BN in 1971 so we can run CB&Q, GN, NP and SP&S. I'm still loyal to my north eastern past too, B&M.
D&RGW, but I am also a BN/BN predecessor fan. I also have a soft spot in my heart for Milwaukee Road, and some Conrail as well.
I voted BeanSniff, but I really like Santa Fe and Southern Pacific. BN and UP can kiss off. . . . Actually, I like BN too, but not as much as Santa Fe.
NKP, now owned by NS. Favorite paint scheme is the BNSF pumpkin scheme (the older one, not the newest style)
I partially agree with the UP comment... ...With the exception that I highly respect UP's steam program. A very classy operation, run by a bunch of really nice guys (and a few gals, too)! I dislike UP for their Borg tendencies, their filthy motive power, among other things.
I voted UP because they sign my paycheck, embrace their heritage, and have a diversity of motive power. I also would have voted for the ATSF. I dislike BNSF because of their anti-heritage stance, and their seemingly all Dash-9 fleet.
I guess I would have to say I'm a BNSF FAN. For Fallen Flags, it's hard to pick so I would say Southern followed in a 3 way tie between ATSF, BN, & Frisco
Alex, it looks like you have re-awakened all of us "fallen flag" fans. Last weekend my favorite railroad was the Oregon Pacific short line, as the SP&S 4-8-4 700 was operating on their tracks. :teeth: Oh, yeah, my favorite fallen flag should be obvious.
BNSF's anti-heritage stance does bother me, but they're still my favorite of the current crop. And Hemi, see, one of the SP's endearing qualities was the significant level of filth on the engines. I figured UP, being a bunch of boneheads, simply choose that as the best way to "embrace their heritage."
Well, they are not ALL Dash-9's... 985 SD40-2's, 781 SD70MACs, 151 AC4400CW's, and yes, 1798 Dash 9's... At least they are not all as filthy as UP's fleet! Well-said! :shade: And it seems, they are embracing it in a very loving way! mg:
