Excellent job, guys! I had sourced PSCX decals for 25 cars, and had red paint ready for the conversion, but never had the time, and sold them all. Now, I have NORX and blue-end DRGW gons. I have bugged Athearn for PSCX hi-sides as well.
Pat did a PSCX run about a 18 months ago. As far as I know they are sold out at Trainworkx but some dealers may still have a few.
DEGX hoppers Hi all, Pat is planning on running some DEGX hoppers. Those are the Red Caboose 5-bay Ortners. Contact him NOW if you want any. He only plans on doing about 400 and at least 300 are spoken for already.
DEGX info. Again DRGW5349,thanks mate.I missed the boat by the looks of it,I wonder if WigWag would have any left...... Can someone post a pic of the DEGX & or some info please?
Hello, I had never heard of the DEGX hoppers before. from where to where ? When were they operated ? Are they running only in a unit train or can they be seen with other hoppers ?
Thank you for your pics : I would also like to operate a PSCX train ! How many PSCX hoppers do you have ? in which proportion of MDC / LBF ?
DEGX train According to the Carr Tracks web page, http://www.carrtracks.com/ , the DEGX train was 100 car unit train for Mississippi Power in Daniels MS. It ran on the D&RGW, Missouri Pacific, Illinois Central Gulf, & Mississippi Export. 1981: Train #: 787 empty from MP to Cameo CO 788 loaded from Cameo CO to MP 789 empty from MP to Acco UT 790 loaded from Acco UT to MP The website does not mention how long it ran but there is no DEGX shown during the 1989 D&RGW/SP merger. However, there are new DEGX cars running over the D&RGW presently. There was also an article in the Prospector a while back.
More Rio Grande Hoppers In the "better late than never" department, here are some DRGW quads I caught earlier this year on a Texas coal drag. And of course these were in service during your requested era.
Hi, Which route did the AEPX coal train took : Moffat route or Tennessee Pass ? Now, let's build one AEPX unit train. Until when did the AEPX 3-bay hoppers run? Trainworx did a run of those : Can the 3-bay hopper be mixed prototypically with the newer AEPX bethgons like Athearn did : When did the AEPX unit train start using Bethgon hoppers ? Thanks for the info.
AEPX trains According to the CarrTrax website, the AEPX ran over both routes, connecting to the BN at Denver and the MP at Pueblo. As far as mixing the three bays with the Bethgons, I doubt it, if for very long, as the D&RGW/SP acquired the three bays in 1992.
We can see quite a lot of CTRN unit coal trains on the Tennesse Pass road, in Tennessee Pass, Volume 2 from Machines of Iron (SPV). As far as I understood, they started running on Tennessee Pass from 1995 until the closing of the Pass in october 1997. Since then, they are running on the Moffat route, right ? On the video, we see mostly quad hoppers with silver rib, and a few ex BN 3 bay black hopper with large white BN logo as well, restenciled with CTRN reporting marks. In 1997, black quad hoppers with black ribs are also present. Below is a pic of brand new CTRN quads by James Griffin : I find those quad hoppers very classy! Pat (from Trainworx), when will you offer this CTRN version with silver ribs?
Indeed, I think they look great too! I've got 24 of the black rib run of CTRN cars Trainwork did and would gladly take another 24 of the silver rib version. Bring em on!
Trainworx CTRN cars I don't think Pat is a member of TB. Better contact him through his website if you want him to consider a run of the silver ribbed CTRN cars.
What about the ATLAS 90 ton 3 bay coal hopper ? Is it relevant or not ? if yes, for which era ? Thanks for your answers http://www.some train store.com/v/vspfiles/photos/ATL-40443B-2.jpg
