At one time I had over 30 undecorated Athearn Blue Box 40ā Boxcars. I also had a dry transfer decal set for Rock Island 60ā auto parts service boxcars. I found a picture of a similar car and used the decals I had laying around and ended up with Rock Island 46157. Not quite prototypical, but Iām not too worried about that for now. Hope you guys are not getting tired of me posting rolling stock pictures. Here is a Bachmann 51 ft. steel boxcar.
No way! I love it. A lot of them bring back memories of the rolling stock I had as a kid. That's a big plus in my book.
Nice. I've got one that is similar and one that is shorter (5 windows in passenger area) and doesn't have the raised roof with clerestory windows. Both in the usual brown. Along with a full passenger car and a 4-6-0 steamer DCC to pull them.
Roma Wines used to sponsor radio shows in the 1940's. One such show I enjoy listening to is Suspense! http://www.mediaheritage.com/roma-wine-history/
Just looked it up and judging from the level of detail and even the "wave" in the handrail going around the tank, it was made by AHM. Thomas Trains made one too with the six domes. Cool tank car! Looks even better after a few samples from the domes...
Probably a custom paint and decal job on an Athearn box car. A nice item to have - I'd bet there aren't very many of those around.
I have a small "gondola" car that I have been looking for a load to put in it. Watching utube to day, I decided to look for something in my storage. I looked around and found a piece of roofing material. I cut it to size and put it in the car. It looks ok but I think I need to add something to make it look better. What do you guys think?
