Just wondering what everyone got from under the tree for your layout? Me, I got a Walthers DQ Grill and Chill kit and a jig with magnets to hold things in place while glueing and drying. I also received a magnetic wrist band that holds metal parts and fastners while working on the layout. Anyone else? Ralph
Well got some much needed 1950's trucks and a metal etching of detail parts for the Oregon build project, plus a nice air compressor that can run on 12 volt or 120 volt and a new self healing work mat fro the workbench. 100_0902-3 by John Moore posted Dec 25, 2020 at 11:19 AM
I received three railroad DVD's These two Lionel authorized Christmas Tree ornaments from Hallmark. And a gift card to the local hobby shop for Christmas. (Now I'm wondering if my wife had a Christmas song stuck in her head while choosing Christmas presents for me? )
My wife gave me the Kato 20th Century Limited train. I had to dig out a bunch of track to snap together and make a temporary loop on the floor to test it out.
Not N Scale, but my wife got me Conrail and Its Predecessors by Brian Solomon which I know I'll enjoy. I hope to get back to modeling in 2021.
Boxcab, it's getting to the point that I really don't need much anymore. I had always looked forward to getting a new locomotive or sets of cars for Christmas, but at this point I already have more locomotives, freight and passenger cars than I would ever need and most everything to put on the layout. But there is always something new coming out and I really need to stay more focused on what I really want to do and start thinning the herd. So next Christmas I won't be expecting (or looking ) for anything.......but that can always change. Ralph
I guess I was an extra good boy this year cause’ I found this under my tree Christmas morning! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My wife got me a BUNCH of Unitrack for my new HCD layout, and "authority to purchase" 2 inch extruded foam board (4'x8' is hard to wrap & fit under the tree) for said layout. My son got me a really nice woo woo woo 32717 all-in-one precision screwdriver set with case (useful for a lot of things in addition to MRR). And, likely applicable to some of my posts here on TrainBoard, my daughter got me a T shirt that says "I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right!" Oh, my daughter got me one of those magnetic wrist bands for holding small tools & hardware last year. It is wonderful!
Well, it goes way back when a policy had to be established because of issues that keep cropping up. Here is an explanation. https://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/policy-trainboard-posts-about-retailers.40760/
The system replaces vendors that don't advertise on TB with redacted words, in this case woo woo woo. So your "K l e i n" screwdriver tool set was mistaken for that large mail order train place in Maryland. It was collateral editing.
Wow... So the policy is not to mention the name of a retailer that does not advertise on TB. OK, fair enough. But I did not mention the name of the well known (if not intelligent enough to advertise here) retailer. I mentioned the name of a well known US manufacturer of tools, some of which are useful in model railroading. By the way, the product was purchased at Home Depot, a retailer who also does not advertise here. I guess we will find out if they are similarly banned. But the (less than intelligent) implementation of said policy is such that we cannot even use a word that just happens to be used in, but is not the entire name of, a certain retailer that does not advertise on TB? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (just in case...)
You can mention Home Depot or even post a link to your screwdriver set because HD doesn't sell trains and compete with vendors that do pay to advertise here.I The filtering is a bit wonky and not very intelligent and often filters out things that shouldn't as you have experienced. Collateral damage...
I got nothin on Dec 25!! (although, it was a good year with both the Transcontinental and the TCL arriving at my "station") All I want for (next) Christmas is a Kato NCL.
Santa brought me a Set of 12 IM SP first run boxcars. (6/96 on the still shrink wrapped package so he’s had them on a shelf for a couple decades) I’ve been told, but have not mentioned to Santa, that I will have to change the trucks on all 12 to MT for reliable operation behind her AC12.
I did not receive any train or layout related anything. But I did get a new pair of house shoes and this, one of my favorites. Actually, the Grinch did not steal Christmas as Diane & I had agreed to go lightly, so we can get a new couch for the den, after the 1st. This gift did make it relaxing for my decoder installs in my IM Black Widows. Be well, Carl
Well choo choo wise I got nothing... but I did get some parts to my new to me S10 that it needed so I can drive it daily. So happy there.
